I sat in the window seat of the large air plane, the events from last night replaying in my head. Jayce had fallen asleep next to me in these uncomfortable seats. I groaned irritated, but the seats were the last things on my mind. Me and Jayce....
I betrayed myself and let someone in, I took down my guard and opened my heart to a boy who would never be mine. All the things he said to me had been a joke to him right? Even David said to be careful, my ex boyfriend was warning me. I couldn't trust Jayce, not yet anyway, but no matter what.. I was stuck for an in tire summer with this Dufus. I watched him stir beside me, his hand reached out and landed directly on my thigh, his fingers moving so they rested between my legs. I tried to move his hand but he put it back, something told me he wasn't exactly sleeping.
He stirred some more and let out a loud sigh, some more sighing and what sounded like my name. Had he really just mumbled my name in his sleep? I lifted his eye lids with my fingers and he slapped my hand away annoyingly.
"Go away!" he growled.
I planted a wet kiss on his nose and looked out the window again, but this time I removed his hand from wondering any further and intertwined our fingers. The plan landed about 20 minutes later and I turned to shack him awake. He sat up and groaned tiredly, He let go of my hand and rubbed his sleepy eyes.
"morning," I laughed,
"Ug," He sighed.
We climbed off hand in hand and entered the giant air port. Waves of people flooded in and out of every doorway and streamed throughout the place. I looked up from my phone to see my mom racing toward us, shoving and throwing people out of her way as if she hadn't seen me in forever. That wasn't entirely a lie... she ran off when I was 13, 4 years ago. She had only just had Denver and after he was born she left. She pulled me into a hug the moment she reached us, once she was finished her awkward embrace she held my shoulders and studied me hard. I had changed a lot in the last 4 years, My hair is blonder and my many freckles have darkened.
My eyes went from hazel to light blue and my strawberry blond had disappeared. She smiled and I returned the gesture, yet she still held me by the shoulders... an arms length apart from her. My phone buzzed and my eyes shifted to it, her hand blocked my screen. More importantly a glistening diamond ring was arranged perfectly on her ring finger. My mouth fell open in shock and she forced her hands behind her back, cursing under her breath.
"I think this was a mistake," I blurted out somewhat angry,
"As do I," A calm but husky voice cut in. A tall man about 6.2 stood next to my mother, he had Smokey grey eyes and dark brown hair. The same ring but without the large diamond played a huge part on his ring finger. He reached out as if he was going to shake my hand but instead he placed 2 plan tickets back home in my palm.
"See ya," He snorted in annoyance,
Jayces mouth dropped and I could see his fists clench.
"Close your mouth boy," The man snapped,
I felt jayces body tence next to mine, and I knew what would come next...
I leaned in slowly and placed a kiss on my mothers cheek and handed her the cards and pictures from the kids.
"Goodbye," I whispered.
I took jayces hand but not before he swung and his fist met the mans face. The hard impact caused him to fall to the ground and Jayce kicked him in the side a few times before picking me up and bolting to the plane. We had our small bags in our hands since we only planned to stay a few nights, luckily we managed to get onto the plane and seated before my moms husband could catch us. We both sat down breathless, and let out loud sighs before I noticed my mother boarded the plane, A small girl who looked just like me fallowed along beside her. The pilot waited by the door for her to be done with me. She walked over to me and grabbed my hand,
"Mas this is your big sister," My mom sighed. The little girl looked up at me and smiled before giving me a big hug and smiling even bigger. I glared at my mom intently,
"How could you?!" I wailed, tears poured down my face,
"I thought you would be happy," She told me,
"How could I after you left me! Hali! Denver! The poor boy doesn't even know you!" I screamed at her,
She looked guilty but I wasn't finished with her yet,
"You ran off and had another baby, named it after me, and never explained why you left! I lowered my voice, Now I sounded mean. But I needed to get my point across,
"I don't want you or your new family in my life, you screwed it up enough already." I raised my voice again,
"I understand," She said quietly and got up to walk away,
"And mom?" I asked sympathetically,
She turned to look at me once more,
"I sure as hell don't want you around Hali or Denver, do you hear me? You may be their mother but you DO NOT act like it," I yelled this time.
She ran off just like she had 4 years ago, tears in her eyes, hurt in her voice.
But this time I didn't care...
This time I wasn't going to put up with her shit and most defiantly I wasn't going to cry. I looked over to find Jayce... who was actually crying. He wiped away his tears and pulled me onto his lap, stroking my hair. He buried his face in my neck and sobbed quietly. Pulling out he put me in the seat next to him, he stood up and brushed himself off before kneeling in the isle in front of me.
"Maci, I wanted to wait but I just couldn't..."
