I sat back and rested my head against the head board. Since i'm spending the next week helping Jayce recover, though we both agree he fine... Today is the beginning of MY summer break! I held the small pillow close to my chest, deep in thought..

After getting dressed in faded jean booty shorts and a strapless white tank top over my bikini, I tiptoed out of Jayces room.

Where I had spent the entire night...

I ran a brush through my thick hair and grabbed my flip flops from the pile of my stuff on his floor. Then still being quiet I snuck down the stairs and pulled my riding jacket from the hook. Putting my flip flops down on the old looking porch, I picked up my sneakers from under one of the few porch chairs and slipped them on. I stood up and dusted myself off, taking in the morning air.. The sent of the little pine trees that lined the ditch up the driveway filled the air, the horses waited patiently to be boarded into the trailer and the grass was perfectly green. I headed toward the trailer and took Rega's reins from my dad, who had offered to help me load them up before he went off to work. I led her into the 2 horse, horse trailer, and tied her to one of the latches installed. Then swiftly turning around without spooking her i reached out to help Nike in, He is one of our rescued horses. My dad and I saved him from the tracks, he was to young to race! Being only about 4 months old at the time. Some people could be so cruel! I took his reins and got him in behind Rega, she nickered slightly and flicked her tail in his face.

"Poor boy," My dad laughed,

"Ya he gets to ride behind bitchy," I giggled loudly,

"Love ya Mas," He told me as he pulled me into a hug then set off for his truck,

"Love you to dad," I called after him,

"Call me if you need anything!" He yelled from the truck, he stuck his head out the open window and waved bye to me. I returned the gesture and stalked off toward the barn to get the rest of the tack for our trip. I hadn't told Jayce yet, but the cottage I had taken him to weeks ago was now going to be our home for 2 weeks, my dad had granted me permission to take Jayce away for 2 weeks! I boiled with excitement, so much that I dropped all the tack from my hands and it landed with a loud clatter on the barn floor.

"Maci?" A male voice called, but it wasn't Jayce's familiar friendly voice.

"In here?" I yelled, but it sounded more like a question. My neighbour Mr. Reed wandered in with a boy looking around my age, he had slick brown hair and dark green eyes. His smile brightened at the sight of me.. well checking him out.

"This is my nefew," Mr. Rees blurted out,

"Kyle," The boy said sticking out his hand for me to shake it.

"Maci," I returned, shaking his hand kindly.

"Well maybe you could put my boy here to work for a while, Wes told me what your up to." Mr. Reed smiled kindly.

"Uh sure," I replied.

Mr. Reed left with that and I stood facing Kyle who didn't look like much of a farm boy to me... The next thing I knew Kyle had pressed me to the wall and had his hands on either side of my head, he leaned into me and kissed the corner of my mouth.

"I have a boyfriend,"
