You're just a bit too much like me
MARINA
The room was silent, the only noise was the sound of Arias panicked and deep breathes, Rafe starting at her with worry.
"What happened?" Rafe asked, his tone soft and gentle, she kept her eyes down at the floor, her lips sealed shut, he began to grow frustrated at the silent treatment, "You're gonna have to talk to me at some point. Okay?"
Aria glanced over at him, flickering her teary eyes between his angry ones, "Do I have to remind you of everything you've done? You killed Peterkin. Do you remember that? And everything you've put me through."
Rafe fought the urge to roll his eyes, his hand lifting, almost to shut her up as he shook his head, "Peterkin, I was protecting my father. Okay? I did what I had to, so... don't. I'm as much a victim as she is."
Arias face twisted with confusion and anger towards him, her lips parting, her hands falling to her lap.
"No? Think about it. Okay? What did I get from shooting Peterkin, huh? Nothing. Okay? I had nothing against her. I mean, I... I... I liked her." Rafe stuttered, his hands holding his temples as he kept shrugging, "I will admit, though, what I... what I did to you... what I tried to do, um... what I tried to do to you, I admit that was wrong. I know that. All right? So you don't have to remind me."
He grew frustrated, repeatedly smacking himself in the head, Aria just scoffing lowly, "Oh God."
She watched a tear fall from his eyes and her heart suddenly yearned. She'd known Rafe for her whole life, she loved him, she loves him, she knows him inside out. And Rafe wasn't a crier.
"I should've never touched you, but, you know, I just lose control in moments like that, and I don't know what happened. I'm trying... I'm trying to get better." Rafe nodded to himself, almost as if that's who he was trying to convince.
Aria just shook her head with him, cracking the smallest smile, "Yeah."
"It doesn't matter. All I'm saying is just that I'm not the bad guy you think I am, okay? But even if I was, even if I was just, like, bad Rafe Cameron or something..." He trailed off, sniffling, "you got no choice. You may... you may not want to trust me, okay, but I'm your best bet."
Aria stayed quiet, knowing he was right.
Suddenly he dropped to his knees in front of her, making her flinch at the unexpected shift, he kept his hands up, placing them lightly on the tops of her knees, "Look. I got a boat that can get us off island, okay? But first, we gotta get out of here, and it is better if we work together."
They both snapped their head towards a vehicle started, the two practically jumping over to the window, Aria frowning deeply.
"They're leaving?" Rafe asked, his eyes glued to her worried expression.
She nodded, turning to him, "They're going to find John B and your sister."
"Sucks for them." Rafe said carelessly, it made her eyebrows furrow, the sudden change made her question his whole apology, "That's good for us though. This may be our only shot at getting out of here."
"Yeah, and how are we gonna do that?" She asked, cocking a brow.
He licked his lips, trapping her between him and a dresser, his hand reaching behind her, "Just like this."
Rafe grabbed a small glass vase, smashing it on the floor beside her, she yelped in fear, staring at him with wide eyes, "What the hell, Rafe!"
He nodded, signaling for her to keep going, and that's when she caught on. Maybe it was good for her to get a year worth of pent up anger out. Especially on him.
She grabbed another vase, smashing against the wall behind him, the vase nearly missing him, "Get away from me!"
"I'm tired of this shit. I'm gonna kill you, Ari!" Rafe screamed, throwing more stuff on the ground, staring at the door as he shoved her into the bathroom.
"Help!" She yelled as loud as she could, he gently helped her into the bathtub, sticking her leg out of the tub, laying flat on her back with her eyes shut, Rafe squeezing behind the door, holding a finger over his lips.
The door was opened quickly, followed by the floor creaking, and a guards voice, "Hey, you two! What'd you do?"
The guard slowly opened the bathroom door, his eyes landing on the leg sticking out of the bathtub, his eyes widened with fear of the unknown, "What be this?"
Before he could even reach the tub, he was thrown to the ground, struggling as he and Rafe faught viciously, Aria stood quickly, watching Rafe drag him out of the bathroom and onto the floor, which was completely covered in glass.
"Stay down! Stay down, you understand?" Rafe demanded as the guard moaned in pain, his panting loud.
Aria climbed over him, "Here tie him up. Give me the phone."
Rafe slipped the phone out of the guards pocket, holding it tightly as he leaned down to the guards ear, "Don't make a sound, all right?"
Her eyes trailed down to the gun on the ground, she picked it up without second guessing, following Rafe out of the room and down the steps.
"Hey. Hey, Rafe. Rafe. Rafe, Rafe, Rafe." She whisper-shouted his name, he paused at the door, turning to her with an annoyed expression.
"What?"
"Hey, hey, let me see the phone." She muttered, glancing down at it.
He furrowed his brows, "Why?"
"Just give it to me." She gritted through her teeth, staring at him, inches between them.
He glanced down at her mouth, rolling his eyes, "Okay. Give me the gun."
The two traded, Rafe's eyes falling back onto the outside of the room as he pushed the heavy door open, his hand signaling for Aria.
Before they could exit, Aria scurried over to the picture Singh kept referring towards, she lifted the phone, snapping a picture of it as she sent it to herself through email, Rafe's voice made her rush.
"Ari, come on!"
