Sweet little baby in a world full of pain
The Neighbourhood

Aria and JJ sat with a distance between them, all of the Pogues gathered with the hope of restoring the cross. Finally getting their own treasure back.

She flattened out her jean shorts, standing beside Sarah, avoiding the sharp eye contact with the blonde, she could feel his sight digging into her feature, chills the down her spine.

"When I went back to Tannyhill, Rafe was there. We, uh, had a run in with another and he basically spilled it, talking about the cross. It had to be." Aria shrugged, looking between her friends.

"Wait." JJ cocked his head towards her sharply, "You were with Rafe?"

Arias lips parted, she could feel her forehead crease with frustration as she shook her head frantically, "No, no, not like that. If I would've known he was there I wouldn't have gone. But, more importantly, It's being shipped by train to Raleigh from there, but this is our chance to get it back."

"You got any other information?" Pope asked, his leg shaking with anticipation.

"Uh, Sarah got the cargo number." Aria nodded, snapping her fingers, watching as Pope paced with his head shaking, the linger of hope in his dark eyes

JJ ran his palm down his chin with a click of his tongue, "They're definitely fencing that shit off as we speak. So we should probably get a move on. Sarah, you hear from John B?"

Sarah shook her head with a slight shrug of her shoulders, "No, I mean, he's probably off somewhere with his dad."

Pope sighed, biting into his bottom lip with his hands on his hips, "But the problem is they have the Twinkie. Our transportation." Silence followed, the teens eyeing each other, "I could ask Heyward for the truck."

"Uh, what?" Aria cocked a brow, as if the boy was asking for a death wish. After all, they figured they'd never be trusted again with that truck.

JJ nearly laughed in Popes face, the snarky tone was clear as he spoke, "Yeah, that's gonna go well."

"I know, but we have no other options." Pope rolled his eyes, "No offense, Ari....but there's no way we can trust your parents with this."

Aria swallowed, looking down at her hands in her lap, "Yeah, yeah. I get it. Look, I have to go back and at least tell my mom that I'll be gone. If not, there'll be a manhunt."

JJ nodded in agreement, "I'll go with you."

"What?" Aria snapped her brows together, the tension between them was still visible, "Why?"

"Because. Who trusts them? Your own father sets you up." JJ spoke, the harsh truth making the girl cringe.

She knew he was right, that's why she didn't fight it. The two left, silence creeping between them until he broke it.

"Do you want me to come in with you?" He asked, staring at her side profile, he could sense her uncertainty.

"If you want too." She shrugged, her hands in her back pockets, staring up at her house, the cars in the driveway made her breath quicken.
