Maxine
"MAXINE!!!" I roll my eyes. God what does he want now. "AXEL I SWEAR IF YOU CALL ME THAT AGAIN IT WON'T BE PRETTY!" I yell back at him. Axel is so annoying at times. He's pushing my buttons on purpose.
"FINE! MAX GET OUT HERE!" He yells back at me. That is much better. I pushed my den door open and leaned against the door frame.
"What?" I ask. He's better got a good reason for disturbing me. He has his arms crossed and is death staring me.
"Did you sneak out last night?" he asks me. He has dark brown curls and I can see his deep blue eyes staring at me with obvious anger. I know I'm in trouble now. Someone must have tattled on me. Ruben. I'll go hunt him down later.
"So what if I did?" I snap back. He adjusts his posture to make him grow taller and shines the red spark in his eyes to warn me he's not afraid of a werewolf fight.
" You know the dangers of getting caught by the humans." He says with a dangerously calm tone in his voice.
I roll my eyes. " I didn't get caught so calm down."
"It's the fact that you disrespected the pack rules Max. You're only 15. You know you're not old enough to leave yet." He replies. I despise that rule. I decide it's better not to respond since he has the upper hand being it that he is 19 and an adult. My birthday is next week so he also can hold that against me too.
His expression softens but not by much. "Look this isn't the first time you've snuck out so I've asked Collin to guard your den so you can't get out since there isn't any windows in there." HE DID WHAT?! I flash my red spark at him out of anger.
"I just can't trust you anymore Max. Until I think you're going to be mature enough to follow the rules he is also going to be watching you 24/7 to make sure you don't leave. Consider it like you are grounded." He says. This is out ragouts! He can't possibly do this to me!
" That's not fair Axel! It sucks inside here!" I say trying not to cry. He is cutting me off from the outside world.
"Max trust me it's for your safety. When I think you're ready I'll take the restriction off but you have to earn it." Before I lash out and change, I turn around, slam my den door and scream. I detest when this happens. My heart feels like it fell out of my chest and I can't breath. I can't stop it from coming and I howl. A pulsating feeling in my head comes over me and I feel sick to my stomach. I despise the changing feeling. Everything feels like I'm trapped in another body unable to control it.
I know this is the real reason they don't want me going out. Everyone else can. I'm that one weakling that can't. My emotions control me the most which is the worst part of it. My anger and hate slips out and I can feel me scratching the walls and clawing at the floor. It's like I can see what I'm doing but I can't do anything to stop it.
Soon I ware myself out and I can see myself panting in the now broken mirror. My black furred wolf with golden yellow eyes. This is the worst part of being a werewolf. My eyes don't even match my normal green ones. Things become fuzzy again and the pounding goes away meaning I'm changing back to normal but tiredness comes over me as I pass out.
Axel
She slams the door with a scream and I know that she is going to change soon. Max has to be so complicated sometimes. Her stubbornest is admirable though. Someday she will understand why these rules are so important.
"Axel! I heard yelling so I just wanted to make sure everything was okay." Collin says coming around the corner. His blonde hair is a mess for some reason. I looked back at the door and nodded towards it.
"Oh.." he says with the realization in his voice.
"You talked to her about the consequences of her sneaking out and she got upset I presume?" he asks.
"She's going through it again" I reply and on cue she howls in agony.
Collin has a sympathetic look on his face and asks "Should I start the guarding?" I take a deep breath. Hearing her howl's just brought me flash backs from the little werewolf girl I found in the dark alleyway not far from the burning apartment down the block. I nodded but didn't feel like talking.
Collin continues talking "I get you don't like hearing her go through this so if you want to leave I can take it from here."
" Make sure she eats something. Even if she says she's not hungry. We all know how hungry we get after the changing."
He nods. The howling stops which indicates that she's passed out and probably won't wake up for a couple of hours which is good. She was out for a while last night so she needs the rest.
"Oh one more thing" Collin says. "One of the other packs on the north side of New York has disappeared and the remaining werewolf said they were attacked by...Fairies."
"Hold up. Fairies? Fairies are just a myth though."
"I know. We think he might just have hallucinated it since he said it all went by so fast."
"Let's go with that then. It's the most logical explanation."
He nods. "They need you down in the boarding room though to sort it out since you're our leader." I sigh and nod. Only 9 in the morning and things were already getting chaotic. Glancing back at Maxines den door I leave for the boarding room.
