Axel
The outside world seems so calm and normal. The people at the cash register looked like they were living the good life. That's the thing about looks though. Someone can look like they're smiling on the outside but are the complete opposite on the inside. That's probably how everyone in the pack feels right now.
I just need to keep them calm and reassure them that things will be okay. That's what a leaders job is. I never would have thought things could get this bad though. We technically weren't supposed to leave unless necessary or unless we're on orders. However I'm the leader and food is essential. I wasn't gone for long either. Coming up to the abandoned cabin on the path, I can feel the tension of the pack. There's panic.
I swing the groceries over my shoulder and run. I run as fast as my legs can carry me. I hear shouting. Something is wrong. The pack is being attacked!
I burst through the doors and drop the groceries over to the side. I look up and see Collin but he looks terrified. He's out of breath for some reason and has locked the door. He opens his eyes as a gasp escaped my mouth. He looks shocked and a little annoyed to see me I think.
"Collin is everything okay? Is something wrong?" I asked trying to stay calm though I was probably doing a horrible job at it.
" I-I the pack is under attack." He stuttered. Something was seriously wrong. One thing didn't add up though. Why would he be out here if they were under attack? Shouldn't he be helping? I also didn't see anything happening outside. Is he lying? Why would he lie about something so serious though?
"Oh- why are you out here then? I didn't see anyone outside."
" Because they snuck in, they need you in there though as the leader! I was told to go out and find where they came in."
Okay now that makes sense. All the noise earlier is because we are under attack. I need to get in there and help as fast as I can.
"Oh okay then hurry it up!" I yell running past him and unlocking then door then open it. Using my good werwolf site, I looked to see where the attack is taking place. Hold up- it looks like the guards were running this way.
"Are you sure? Because they seem to be running this way-" I ask but before I can finish I feel a sharp pain hit my face as I stagger back and fall over. There's an explosion of blood bursting into my mouth. It has been a long time since I've tasted the metallic of my own blood. I feel me crash down to the floor and a sharp pain go through my body. I turn over and spit out globs of blood.
I watch Collin stare at his fist in horror, like he'd just seen a ghost. He glances at me before turning around and running. Then it hits me. He's doing this for Maxine. I never thought he'd go to this extreme for something like that though. I need to get him to stop. The doors close and lock behind him.
"Collin! It's okay! She's going to be okay! Running after her won't do you or her any good!" but my throat is horse when I try to call out to him. I know he can hear my calls though because of his hyper hearing. It's no use chasing after him. He's headed down a path and I know he's strong but I don't know if he'll survive that path of the fairies. On the other hand...he's the only one who has a shot in making it out alive.
I heard the guards come up from behind me yelling "Sir! We have to follow him!"
I shake my head. There is no point. I slowly stand up with the pain and turned over to face them with a stern face. My werewolf healing will kick in soon.
"If you are suicidal then go ahead, but I will warn you now, anyone that has ever tried to follow the fairies way, has never come back to tell the day." I say as I push my way through the crowd.
I haven't fought in a real battle in a long time. It seems as though that's going to change and to be honest the thought of shooting my arrows again is thrilling.
I run down towards the armoury as fast as I can. Not only are we missing Maxine but now we are missing Collin too. As if things couldn't have gotten any worse. I skip steps going down the spiral stairs and hit the switch to turn on the lights. I look over to where I had seen Collin training earlier and noticed that the robots head had been cut off. He'd obviously had been set off by something.
I shake away my thoughts. It's just a waste of time. I go over to the chest that's still open. This must have been where Collin grabbed his gear. I grab another pair and change.
When I put on the gear, it sends the electric feeling through my body that I get every time I'm in battle. The feeling of being unstoppable. I walk over to my bow and arrows. The leather casing with a deep blue ribbon sewed into the seem of it. All of my sharp arrows stuck out of it. Carved into the wood in small letters was ' The bringer of peace'. I grin. Time to make that come true.
I take my bow off the wall and admire it for a couple of seconds. The light weight. The black leather grip. It has been so long since I've even touched my bow and boy am I excited to use it again. I swing my case of arrows over my shoulder with my bow.
Taking one more glance around the armoury room, I sigh and turn over to skip steps back up the spiral stairs. I run out all the way over to the entrance. I close the door and looked over at the city.
They didn't know what was coming.
I sigh and started into a run without a second glance back at my pack.
