                                                              Collin

My heart is hammering against my chest and it feels like all the air has left the room. It brings back memories from when I used to escape as a kid. When I felt like I was the only different one in the pack. Then I remembered that's probably how Max feels. Except now she's gone and it wasn't by her doing. I've made plenty of mistakes in my life but the my last one is the one I'm going to fix. No matter what.

If She's truly a hybrid then that means her mother will want her all to herself and if the myth is  true, then the queen will stop at nothing to get what she's wants.

I'm at the top of the stairwell. I need to escape without getting caught. When I was younger it was way easier because back then we lived in peace. Now the pack is on high alert and that means guards are everywhere. It also means no one is allowed to leave, armour on or not.

Then it occurred to me that it might come to fighting my way out instead of sneaking out. I will admit some of the other pack members are bigger than me but at the same time, I'm a lot faster and stronger. As long as I don't run into Axel I have  a clean path out.

Glancing around the corner I realized Ruben is being a guard. I smirk. This might be my lucky day, he'll finally get what he deserves. The good thing is it will be by my hand as well.

I close the door behind me as quietly as I can  but there's still the click of the door shutting and Ruben hears it. His head snaps towards me with a confused look.

"What are you-" He started to ask but I cut him off by cupping my hand around his mouth. Panic seeps into his facial expressions as he realizes what I'm going to do. He try's to yell but his voice is muffled by my hand.

I whispered into his ear "Be quiet and don't tell a soul or what happens next  won't be pretty."

It takes him a moment to comprehend what's happening but he nods his head. It was hesitant though so I don't know how much of his response I can trust. "Swear it on god" I whisper harsher. I heard a Muffled "On god" and I let him go.

Then there's a sharp pain to my face.  I realize I'd just been punched! The shock on my face is visible because he snickers and whispers "You never said I couldn't fight you to stop you." I rolled my eyes.

"I didn't think I needed to, I just thought you were smart enough to understand you'd loose."

"Who said I was going to lose?"

"Logic." I answer dryly and punch him to the point where we stumbles back against the wall.

He turns to look back at me and his eyes are full of hate. I've clearly pissed him off which is good. When he's upset he can't think straight meaning he's going to be irrational. Meaning I'm going to win. Again.

He aims for my face again but this time I'm prepared. I dodge and do an uppercut straight to his stomach. I accidentally used to much of my werewolf strength again and he ended up flying upwards with the punch and smacked up against the ceiling. I hear a crack which was probably a couple of his ribs and some other bones. He cries out with pain and I know immediately I need to get out.

I hear running from down the hall along with the shouts of the other guards. I look down at Rubens pained face and couldn't help but say one last snarky thing.

"That's what Karma feels like ya jerk" and then I run off down the hall.

The good thing is that the entrance isn't that far away. I just need to out run the crowd of guards chasing after me. I keep running  and I remember the hallways leading to the entrance has slide doors. If I locked those doors then I'd be safe from the guards and can continue on my way with less interruptions. I see the doors, speed up, whirl around, close the door and hear the satisfying noise of the door locking.

I lean up against the door as relief fills my body. I hear a random gasp and realize I wasn't alone in this hallway. I looked around and of course it had to be the one person I didn't want to run into. Axel.

He looks at me with shock and concern. It looks like he went down the block to grab more food. The grocery bags were slumped over to the side.

"Collin is everything okay? Is something wrong?"He asks.

" I-I the pack is under attack." I stutter spilling out the quickest lie.

"Oh- why are you out here then? I didn't see anyone outside"

" Because they snuck in, they need you in there though as the leader! I was told to go out and find where they came in." I lie again.

"Oh okay then hurry it up!" He yells as he runs past me and unlocks the door but he glances back asking "Are you sure? Because they seem to be running this way-" he asks but I cut him off by smashing my fist into his face, I watch him stagger backwards past the door as he collapsed on the floor. Blood flew out if his mouth along with some air. He starts coughing trying to say my name.

I can't believe what I've done. I just struck Axel. Our leader. The guy I practically grew up with. I stare at my fist in horror. It was like my body moved without me controlling it. I hear Axels voice but it's faint.

"Collin! Don't Run off! Its okay, don't be afraid!" Is all I hear before all I hear is silence besides the painting of my own breath and the crunching of the ground as I run away from the only home I've ever known. Towards Max. This is where my adventure starts.
