. . .
The smells and colors made you feel hungry and excited all in one round. The festival had a gold, red, and white theme that you loved with a brand new burning passion. Somehow, it reminded you of tigers while looking around as your group started mingling with the crowd.
You could hear the drums beginning to stop playing as some other instruments began as you came to your first food stop.
It had these things called ‘corn-dogs’ that you and Sukuna were equally confused by. How could a hot dog, dipped in breading, be on a stick?
Looking up at Sukuna, who seemed more disgusted than anything, stared at the snack before taking a bite. There was a small notion that he might’ve liked the food he bit into, though the look on his face wasn’t really pure happiness.
You swore you saw a smile though...
“Y/n, aren’t you going to eat?”
Turning back to Uraume, who was eagerly biting into their own corn dog. They had a smile on their face and was chewing happily. You took a moment to look at the snack before biting into it and following Sukuna and Uraume over to one of the first festival games you guys ever played together.
That was before Uraume said they needed to shop last second.
“It’ll be near the rugs shop that’s a little ways past the food court we visited earlier,” They said with a smile, bowing and heading in the other direction with a wave.
“Don’t wait up on me!”
And with that, you and Sukuna were left alone to enjoy the festival games and food. You watched Uraume run off until you couldn’t see them anymore before turning to Sukuna and seeing he was staring at their disappearing figure too.
“Sukuna, what should we do now?” You asked, holding your hands together as Sukuna continued to eat his snack.
“Hm? Oh, uh..” He started, looking around. “We could.. play games?”
Sukuna wasn’t built for things like this..
You smile, grabbing one of Sukuna’s additional hands and pulling him towards the game area. A flush of warmth met Sukuna’s cheeks in those next few moments, eyes glued to your connected hands. He could tell that his feelings were getting the better of him the moment that everything around him began to blur and the noise of the music started dying down.
Your hand was so warm, and soft. Nothing like his at all. Sukuna was surprised that your hand was so different from his. His calloused hands and rough fingers compared to your delicate and gentle ones was so embarrassing for him.
But soon, you and Sukuna reached the game area and began playing. Uraume —who secretly had used shopping as an excuse to spy on you two— was watching not far away with a smile on their face.
You and Sukuna were oblivious to this, as you were both busy winning toy after toy and game after game. Sukuna’s arms were soon filled with different toys like dragons, red pandas, and even a fox was in the litter with additional snacks and foods that Sukuna suggested would be best eaten somewhere more private.
There was another fireworks show going to start —your second one this year— and headed towards a hill Sukuna said had a better view of the sky and village.
Eventually, you and the King of Curses managed to make your way to the hill and sat down. Turns out he was right, you could see almost everything up there and even a bit of the festival’s crowd. The grass there was nice and soft, and there was a small bundle of trees that grew towards the bottom.
