A Second Chance

Chapter 2

Hinata's POV

It had been a week since I came here. My body was now completely healed and The Ancient One had let me live here in Kamar Taj. I did miss everyone back home but I was quite determined to adjust to the life here and if possible, find a way to go back home.

I was currently sitting in what seemed like the library, an English language book in front of me with Mordo sitting on the chair opposite to me. He was nice guy, he had taken up the duty to teach me English. He says I was a quick learner considering I was already able to read and understand though my speech was broken. There was another person I was comfortable with here.

He was a strange man with a strange name and called himself Dr. Strange. Sounds strange.... I know. Though I preferred to call him Stephen and he didn't really mind that. He didn't actually live here but Mordo says he keeps visiting this place.

On top of all these new people and things, I had developed some kind of tattoo on my right hand, some kind of design going diagonally from the right of my wrist to my thumb. When Stephen saw it, he said it has to be a soulmate mark. Now that was more confusion to me. He explained that some people are just made for each other and there was someone on this planet who was meant for me. I did not want to believe him but I read such things even in these books and the more I came to know about it, the more I started believing it.

I snap out of my thoughts when Mordo got up saying "you've studied enough for today Hinata. Let's go". I nod and get up, placing the book where it belonged and walking out with him. We walked to the training grounds and I sat at a corner just observing everyone. Mordo had asked me to join them a few times but I did it only once, just because The Ancient One wanted to see what I could do with that energy radiating off me. Fighting was not something I would willing do.

Mordo was helping a fellow student with his training while I say and watched. The techniques these people used were intresting. Not gonna lie but after observing them I sometimes tried to use the techniques myself when no one was there on the training grounds.

Stephen Strange's POV

I was currently sitting in front of Nick Fury who asked to meet me saying it was urgent. We were sat in silence as I was going through a file. It was about the power surge about 10 days ago. My face hardens as I look up into his questioning eyes. "I know you're hiding something Dr. Just tell me what you know about that sudden burst of power which was observed in Katmandu. I only want to ensure the safety of this planet" he spoke calmly. I close the file and say "if you're worried about the safety of this planet, you need not do so. Whatever that caused the sudden burst of power has been taken cared of."

I was about to get up when there was a knock on the door. Ramanoff and Rogers walked in and placed a file on the table. They both give me and Nick a questioning look to which I just shrug. "The mission was successful. Details are provided in the file" Natasha said as Nick opened the file and gave a nod before looking at me but my eyes were fixed somewhere else, Steve's hands to be specific. He must have seen me staring and cleared his throat bringing me out of my thoughts. I look at him then his hands again and sigh "looks like someone here got a soulmate". He gives me a tight smile but nods.

I stay quite for a while thinking what to do. Steve was Hina's mate, they are soulmates, they are meant for each other. Should I tell him about her? Will they even be happy together. Hinata was a sweet soul and preferred to stay away from violence but her soulmate here was Captain America himself. I let out a heavy breath seeing the intense look Nick was giving me and speak "that surge we observed.... It was a person. She seemed to have travelled through dimensions accidentally and ended up here. She is with us at Kamar Taj and having watched over her, I believe she poses no threat."

Nick gives me a satisfied look while the other two were still in the room. "So it's a girl and you say she poses no threat. I would like to confirm it myself. You bring her here or I come there myself" he said almost threateningly making me clench my jaw. He dismisses the other two and I get up "whatever you are thinking of doing Nick, she is capable of handling you, so I suggest you to be careful with your words and actions". With that said I get up from my seat and open up a portal to Kamar Taj "I'll be here in an hour". I leave the place and immediately go to the Ancient One.

Explaining whatever that happened, I take her permission to take Hina to NY since she was practically under her watch. After a short talk with her I walk around the Temple looking for Hina.

Hinata's POV

I was listening to Mordo giving me some tips on how to tackle opponents much bigger and stronger than you though most of them were something I already knew so I just kept nodding. He stops speaking and demonstrating when Stephen walks up behind him. I smile looking at him and get up saying "Hello Stephen, it's nice to see you again". He gives me a smile and nods "I i would like to talk to about something Hina, let's go" . Hearing the seriousness in his voice I give a small smile to Mordo and walk after Stephen.

He leads me to my room and says looking away from me "remember S.H.I.E.L.D? I was called there today and sorry but they want to meet you and not just meet but they think you are a threat so I'm not sure what's going to happen there. I have something important to do so I won't really be able to accompany you there. Sorry Hina". I chuckle softly and say "It's okay Stephen, calm down. I'll manage. Do we have to go now?". He gives a small smile "yes. I'll drop you there. I'm waiting outside", he walks out after saying that and I close the door. Sighing, I open the closet which held a few clothes. I wear dark blue jeans and a pastel purple hoodie, my hair let down freely.

I open the door and as he said, Stephen was standing outside. He was about to open a portal but turns towards me and then walks away. I stand there confused but smile when he comes back and puts on sunglasses on my face "I don't want anyone to think of you weirdly just because of your eyes". I nod and he opens the portal before walking in. I follow him, a sudden feeling of nervousness washing over me.

In the room was a man similar to Mordo in skin tone and bald like the Ancient One. I don't realise I was holding onto Stephen's robe and flinch when he holds my arm and moves to the side saying "I've got some stuff to do Nick. Be careful and true to your words". I look at the bald man then at Stephen. He nods at me and leaves through the portal. The man stands from his chair and walks towards me, extending his hand. I look at his hand then at him and shake hands with him. He straighten up again and says "I'm Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D" I nod and say "Hinata Hyuga"
