Chapter 6: The Second Phase part 1

My pov:

Soon, everyone started running to the forest to look for a pig to cook. Once I found my friends, they were still looking for a pig.

" Guys, Why don't I make this fast? " I told them, they looked at me in confusion as I pulled out my hand mirror.

" Mirror mirror, in my hand. Show me where the pigs are at " I said.

The mirror then showed us the location and we head off there. Once we found the path that looked like a slide.

Gon went first, then me, then Sei, then Killua then Kurapika and then Leorio. Gon then stopped causing us to bump.

" What was that!? " Killua yelled only to be ignored.

" Found them. " Gon and I said " the pigs "

Indeed, the six of us found the pigs who are chewing on bones. The guys blinked.

" They're chewing on bones... " Leorio said, pointing out the obvious.

" Are they... Carnivores? " Kurapika said.

As soon as he said this, the pigs looked at all of us and growled, steam coming out of their nose.

We started running for our lives, as we were running. I tripped and fell.

' Damnit! ' I yelled in my mind.

" Y/n! " I hear Killua yell my name.

The pigs were getting close but the most surprising thing is that they just ignored me and didn't even harm me and only continued to chase my friends.

I got onto a tree and used my wind magic to propel myself from tree to tree so I could get to them, I have to tell them about their weakness.

Soon, I reached them and yelled.

" Guys!! These pigs' weakness is their foreheads! Hit them in their foreheads! "

I then jumped off the tree and kicked one of the pigs' in the forehead, causing it to growl and hit the ground dead.

The others followed my instructions and hit the pigs in the foreheads. Once everyone got their pigs, they all went back to the exam site and started roasting their pigs.

Sei and I rolled up our sleeves and began cutting our pigs into smaller pieces, I took some of mine to use for cooking while I took the extra and kept it frozen in my inventory.

Then Sei and I got serious and cooked our pigs.

When we finished, I saw the other applicants including my friends being passed by Buhara but being failed by Menchi.

Just like in the anime... 

I went over to the guys and told them that Sei and I have some extra food in our stations and that they can have some.

After that Sei and I then took the dishes that we prepared for Menchi and Buhara. Menchi's eyes soften when she saw our dishes and Buhara looked hungry again.

" Finally... Some dishes that looks good " Menchi said as she picked up her fork and took some of my dish.

As soon as she put the food in her mouth, her eyes sparkled and Buhara too.

" THIS IS DELICIOUS!! " Menchi exclaimed happily.

I let out a sigh of relief, I thought that I messed up my dish. Then they tasted Sei's dish and found it very delicious like mine.

Phew... All our hard work really paid off.

Once they finished eating our dishes. Menchi looked at the applicants.

" Okay, I'm full and I'm pretty sure Buhara is too. The second phase is over. Nobody passed. " Menchi announced which caused an uproar among the applicants.

" Except! " Menchi yelled, making the applicants shut up.

" These girls over here. " Menchi said, pointing to me and Sei.

Menchi smiled at us and we smiled back and ran back to our friends, who in turn smiled at us.

" I can't accept this! Why did those bitches passed and not us!? " One applicant said while looking at us.

The boys glared at the applicant and I could smell that they're angry.

" Why, you asked? Because none of you made an effort on cooking and didn't take this seriously at all. Those girls made full effort and I can see in their eyes as they cooked that they're serious. " Menchi explained. " Plus, their dishes were delicious and had great appearance and texture. And not only that, their feat earlier showed that they have the qualities that makes them promising Hunters unlike you lot " She added.

" Still! Why do we even need to cook!? I want to become a Black-list Hunter not a stupid Gourmet Hunter! " The fat guy, Todo said.

" Stupid... you say? " Menchi said standing up and walking down the stairs slowly.

" We Gourmet Hunters risk our lives just to taste the food around the world. You all lack focus and that is enough to disqualify all of you to be Hunters! " Menchi said as she took out four knives and juggled it and landed on her hand perfectly.

Everybody was silent at Menchi's speech, None dared to say anything. Some were preparing to get ready for what they sense, a battle.

I can smell Hisoka's hostility from the crowd. Then, an old voice in a megaphone was heard in the sky.

" Wouldn't it be disappointing if you fail almost all the applicants? " It said.

Everyone looked up, especially me to see an airship with the Hunter Association symbol on it.

Grandpa!

Then, within the blink of an eye, a human came down from the airship and landed clear on the ground, causing it to have a large crack.

I covered my nose along with my mouth and swatted the dust away. After a few moments, the dust finally cleared and it revealed to be an old man with wooden sandals and long white beard with grey at the end.

Grandpa....

His death during the Chimera Ant arc flashed in my mind, The Chimera Ant Arc will start in 2 years which means... He'll die soon.

I could help him but his death was the reason why the succession war arc began and the reveal of his son Beyond Netero.

Everybody except me and Sei were shocked to see a human who fell from the airship completely uninjured and unscratched.

" W-Who is this old geezer? " One applicant asked.

" The chairman of the hunter association, Chairman Netero. " Menchi said with a serious look.
