-ANASTASSIA POV-
On reaching the Compound, I saw the dim lights in the lawns and around the lake. The entire building was illuminated in the darkness of the night. Bucky and I walked inside the building and to the bar in the living room. I know we couldn't get drunk, but it was fun to pretend that we were like normal humans. I sat on a barstool and Bucky went around to get the drinks. The weather had been for a few nights and today had been no exception. "What would you like to have?" he asked me as he looked in the bar fridge behind the counter. "A beer would be nice." "Alright, beer coming up." he said as he walked towards me with a beer bottle in one hand and a whiskey in other. He set down his whiskey and searched around for a bottle opener but I took the beer out of his hands. I brought the mouth of the bottle between my teeth and removed the cap easily then took a swig of it. I looked up and saw his face full of amusement. "That was... wow. Where did you learn that?" he asked me. "One of Nat's party tricks. She taught me during Tony's last birthday bash." "Well it's awesome."
We continued to talk a bit as we drank further. By now we had shifted to the couch and many empty beer bottles and vodka had been placed over the coffee table. The talks were interesting and we just didn't want to stop. "So you're telling me... fish don't feel getting wet?" he asked me. "Yep." "And Stark told you that?" "Bingo" "Stark is crazy." he said with a laugh. "Well he had drunk his arse off. Rich guy ain't got tolerance like us. Nuh- uh" I said which caused him to laugh more. Once we calmed down, he looked into my eyes while I looked into his. It was at this moment I realized the distance between us, barely any. I could smell the whiskey from over him which was intoxicating me in a way that no beer or vodka could. His eyes fluttered down to my lips and back to my eyes while mine stayed stuck on his eyes. The steel blue was no more the way it was. It had been dark with a deep seated longing.
Slowly, the distance between us was closing in. We could feel our shaking breaths and heartbeats by now but not once did our eyes divert from each other's. I leaned in first and he followed in with both our lips brushing over the other's. He closed his eyes first and I followed just then, we heard a clattering sound from the hallway. It made us jump back from each other's embrace and look in the direction of the voice as we both could hear someone's footsteps. The sound grew closer and I readied my hands in a defensive position with flames bursting over my fists.
-BUCKY POV-
It was really happening but the sound of some clattering made us move a bit away from each other. Who the fuck had it been to interrupt our moment? Again! I saw Natsya getting into a ready position and flames covered her fists. It was so cool to see her do that easily now. Earlier, she would find it very much difficult to do. I was proud of her for how she had grown as a person. I gave a short smile and turned to the noise of footsteps approaching us. I was gonna kill this devil of a person who interrupted us. The footsteps neared and I saw a fairly tall figure approach us. I saw Natsya flick on the lights of the hallway and the face of the figure was revealed to have been Steve. That punk, I swear to God if he wasn't my best friend, I would've killed him. He looked shocked and slightly angry? Why? I followed his gaze and saw him looking intently at Natsya. She looked at him in shock too as she put down her guard. "Steve?" she asked in a confused tone.
-STEVE POV-
"Steve?" she said as she looked at me in shock. This had been the first time she had seen me ever since the incident. I had heard some laughing voices as I returned from the gym. It had been 3 in the morning so I wondered who it had been but I didn't expect Bucky and Ana there. I saw the empty beer bottles in front of them on the coffee table. Had they been drinking? Was something happening here? I noticed they were standing close to each other. Very close if I may add. I felt angry. Angry because it wasn't me who she was being close to. It had to be my best friend. I shouldn't feel like that but I couldn't help it. I realized that I had been taking long to reply but the surprised and somewhat happy look on her face had me wondering if she was wanting to talk to me.
