The contemporary R&B Melody of Anita Baker's 'Angel' played lowly in the family room of the family's home. Reyna's knees embedded into the couch pillow as she cut the silk white ribbon that she had just tied into the perfect bow. She smiled looking at the last and final gift she had just finished wrapping.
Reyna had been up in the living room by herself wrapping and putting out the gifts being it was the night before Christmas.
Everyone was asleep including Gino.
Reyna had been enjoying this time to herself. She hadn't received this much down time in awhile. This month was busy from the holidays, to the moving, and preparing for the baby shower which was only weeks away.
Quietly placing the scissors down on the glass table, she then moves the gift next with the others that all crowded around the bottom of the tree.
Christmas was being hosted at their home this year and Reyna had presents for just about everyone who would be attending Christmas. While mainly having gifts for everyone in her household.
She could admit that she went above and beyond but she didn't mind. Reyna was just blessed that she could finally be able to do so for everybody around her.
As she used the couch for assistance in helping her stand to her feet she grabbed the pillow as well fluffing it up before placing it neatly back onto their couch.
Checking the time on her phone; 2:13 AM.
She would soon have to be up in the next few hours to begin cooking. She, Gino's mom, grandmother, and aunts would be doing all the cooking this year. Which meant they would be over early first thing in the morning and she needed all the rest she could get.
She began picking up anything extra that she didn't use and placing back into the container she had stored her Christmas items in before putting it back into the hall closet.
Reyna reaches for the chocolate chip cookie that was left out on the stand next to the tree with the glass of milk and the card. She takes a bite out of it before sitting it back with the other's.
As always it was tradition for the kids to put out cookies and milk with a card each year. They used to do it with their parents and she decided to continue the tradition with them.
Hearing footsteps grasp her attention. It wasn't long before Mia came into her view. She dressed in the Victoria Secret silk black robe.
"What are you doing up?" Reyna asks, as she looks at Mia with a soft smile.
"Couldn't go back to sleep." Mia shrugs as she heads for the kitchen.
"You just finished wrapping up gifts?" Mia questions as she reaches for the glass in the cabinet before grabbing the Silk Vanilla Almond Milk from the fridge and pouring herself a glass.
"Yes... When I tell you I'm never waiting to wrap the gifts all at once ever again. I didn't think it would take me that long." She says as she moves towards the kitchen.
"I could've helped you I wouldn't of mind. I been up for well over a hour anyway." She shrugs and reached for the freshly baked cookies that were in the jar.
Reyna waves her off before shaking her head.
"I needed the alone time anyway. Especially since everybody is going to be over here tommorow." Reyna states.
"I can't wait this is going to be the first Christmas, I actually enjoy in awhile. I'm excited to see everybody I love Gino's family." Mia says as Reyna agrees.
From Thanksgiving when they both met the rest of Gino's family they were very welcoming just like his parents. His younger cousins even took a liking to Mia which caused the to exchange social media's and numbers.
