Meereen

The only thing a of positive was the birth of their daughter. It was like the days were filled with either bad news, news that was of no use to them at this time, or just news that would make people hurt beyond Jaehaerys would be able to comprehend. His eyes flicker to the scroll in his hand, given to him by Baelor. It has the seal of House Velaryon pressed on the scroll of parchment. Broken and read by Jaehaerys.

Baelor's family has answered the letter sent by Baelor, but it held news that would break Jeyne. Or at least it would be painful to hear. Very painful, Jaehaerys thinks. He twirled the scroll through his fingers as he thought about how to bring the news.

"We should tell her, Jaeh," Daenerys says, holding Daenys in her arm as she fed the girl personally. Plenty of wet nurses were available and often is common when it comes to high nobility. Daenerys would have none of it, she would do it personally. And she did this as she currently breastfeeds their child.

"I know, but I am just wondering how. This news is terrible. Robb is dead, Brandon and Rickon are dead, Catelyn is dead, and Arya is presumed dead. Her entire family is practically wiped out except for Sansa, Jon, and the infant son of Robb..."

"Reminds me of our family," Dany says solemnly, "Killed and almost wiped out entirely by the Lannisters. What do the Lannisters want by killing everyone and anyone? Have they no honour?"

"I doubt it. Have you not heard of Tywin and his 'solution' to the Reynes of Castamere? He sealed them in their underground castle and flooded it. Wiped out their entire family drowned. Women and children included. These Lannisters must be brought to justice when we take back our throne. No family has the right to exterminate a House because of outstanding debts. To kill and wage war as they please."

Jaehaerys feels bubbling hate about the news he read, his tone sharp and heavy. His whole perception of rule is based on serving the people. Dany and he work tirelessly to free people here and back in the lands they were born people are being killed for no reason. The lands that they wish to return to are being put to the sword. Even after being exiled for more than two decades, he cares for the lands that rightfully belong to him.

"Jaeh, justice will come. Anger will not serve in giving Jeyne the news about her family. Calm and gentle is the best way to do it," she says, readjusting her dress as Daenys finished and began to sleep in her arms. "Do you wish for me to be with you when you talk to her?"

"If you like, you're much better at this than me," Jaehaerys says with a sigh as pockets the scroll in the pocket of his coat. The chair screeched over the marble stone floor as he stood up. Dany does so as well, gently walking to a crib to let a sleeping Daenys sleep in peace. Both gave a gentle kiss on the forehead before leaving the room.

Outside their room, it was clear some changes were made. For one, they are made child friendlier. The sharp or easily breakable objects were removed or moved to higher-up places. It was for when Daenys would walk, she can't yet for obvious reasons but it doesn't hurt to prepare.

The second is the much heavier guard presence of the Unsullied. Their numbers reaching to near thirty men around the quarters of the Targaryens. It was put into effect immediately by Ser Barristan as growing tension in Meereen made him more alert. Even Baelor kept a watchful eye out, not only for the Targaryens but mostly to protect Elaena.

Both Daenerys and Jaehaerys walked by the many rooms that housed their court. Even when every member of the court was given their own room, multiple ones were still not in use. The Great Pyramid is ridiculously large and extensive in Jaehaerys' opinion. Even the Red Keep did not have this many rooms from what he has read and remembered.
