chapter 42

When we came back in from swimming I logged on to Skype and called Calum.

"hey babe" I hear as his picture comes up.

"hey, whats up?" I ask.

"missing you, what about you" he asks.

"well just came back from swimming. I start school tomorrow and I miss you to" I say .

"what time do you have to be there for class?" he asks

"my first class is at 9 but I leave right after my first class" I say.

"well that means more time for us to talk" he says laughing.

"yea, so its like 7 so I need to get my stuff ready for school. I'll text you before I go to sleep okay?" I say. His smile turns sour.

"babe I haven't really talked to you since you left" he says.

"I know but what else am I supposed to do? stay up till midnight talking to you and mess up on my first day?" I ask.

"no, I'm sorry, um I'll see you later... bye" he says

"babe wa-" his picture disappears before I can finish.

I pack my stuff and pick out my clothes. All I can think about is how Calum and mine conversation ended. How am I supposed to balance between him and school? As i think about it I fall asleep.

I wake up to my alarm. I never thought I would have to hear that again.

"Morning Kat" I hear my mom scream.

"morning" I say as I close my door and get dressed.

I slip on a white v-neck shirt , a infinity scarf that had black stars and pink skulls on it , and my favorite pair of dark, tight fit Levi jeans . I curl my hair, put on light foundation , do a cat eye and put on mascara. I slide on my converses , grab my bag and head school.

I walk into my class and sit at an empty seat in the very back. Soon everyone filed in. A girl with long blonde hair sat next to me. She was really pretty .

"hi I'm Kelsey! What's your name?" she asks sticking out her hand . I take her hand

"I'm Kat.. Its nice to meet you" I say. When we turned around the teacher begins to talk.

"welcome students.. my name is Mr.Smith , I need you all to fill these papers out and when your done pass them up" he says.

When Kelsey and I finish our work we began to talk.

"have you lived here for long?" she asks

" um... I lived here when I was younger then I moved to California to only move back a few years later for school" I say .

"oh.. that's cool" she says.

I drove home after class. On the way home I dialed Calum's number.

"hello" he says

"hey.. just got done with school so I thought I would call you" I say.

" so how was it?" he asks

"great. I met a new girl today her name is Kelsey" I say.

"that's cool... um can I call you back " he says

"yea....bye" I say hanging up the phone.
