"WHO'S THAT?"
"QUINN GIDDINGS. SHE'S EXTREMELY LOYAL. A GOOD PERSON, BUT IS WILLING TO KILL ANYONE WHO STANDS IN HER WAY."
"SHOULD I TRUST HER?"
"IF YOU'RE ON HER GOOD SIDE. SHE TOOK OUT 6 TRIBUTES WHEN SHE WAS FIFTEEN."
"WHAT DISTRICT IS SHE FROM?"
"FIVE, BUT SHE'S BEST FRIENDS WITH JOHANNA MASON AND HER AND FINNICK HAVE HAD A THING FOR YEARS."
"SO EVERYONE LOVES HER?"
"BASICALLY. DON'T MAKE HER YOUR ENEMY."

It all starts with a bird. Each maneuver of its wings led to the very specific moment in which a little bird landed on the shoulder of Quinn Giddings at the reaping when she was fifteen.
A singular bird was the primordial event of a fifteen-year-old girl from District 5 becoming the victor of the 66th Hunger Games. Who later helped lead the rebellion against the capitol alongside Katniss Everdeen. The girl who became known as the 'killer of men' at the age of fifteen.
The odds were not in the favor of Quinn Giddings. District 5 was one of the wealthiest districts, coming after 1 and 2. However, this didn't mean everyone had it easy. Quinn's mother Abigail was never the same after her sister died in the 44th Games and it only got worse when her father got in a bad accident at work when Quinn was only 5.
Quinn and her brother Reese received neglect from their mother and over the years this caused both Reese and Quinn to have to sign up for tesserae and their names were cumulatively put into the reaping, increasing their odds of being put into the arena.
And Quinn was.
