Santana's point of view

I stare as my patient Victoria cries her eyes out, blowing snot bubbles in between mumbling and rambling. She's going through a breakup, well technically it isn't a breakup because the guy said he didn't want a relationship he just wanted to have sex here and there but...

You know how that goes.

Victoria: You got proposed to seven times and I can't even get one man! What am I doing wrong?

I've seen Victoria enough times to know when to answer and when to wait. This is one of those times I wait.

Victoria: I pay for the dates, I drive, I surprise them with gifts, I give massages, I send money unwarranted to their accounts!

Gahlee!

I continue writing in my notebook before glancing up at her. She's done, ran out of steam.

Me: You put a lot of love and thought into others..-
Victoria: That's what I'm saying!
Me: How about you put that love and thought into yourself.

She continues to wipe her tears.

Me: There's nothing wrong with cherishing people you're with, but there is something wrong with cherishing them before yourself. That goes for relationships and friendships.

She tilts her head while staring at me.

Victoria: I do cherish myself!

I say nothing.

Victoria: Don't I? I mean, I thought I did.
Me: You may cherish yourself in little ways but when's the last time you went out of your way for you? Now compare that to the last time you went out of your way for others.

Her eyes widen.

Victoria: You're so right, oh my gosh. It's like every time I get in these situationships I forget myself or who I am.

I smile, she's realizing that's what they are.

Victoria: One time I was short in my paycheck but he wanted this really expensive game so I spent my grocery money on that. I had to eat the almost expired food from the convenience store my friend would sneak me.

She sighs.

Victoria: I just feel like the more I spoil others the more they'll stick around.
Me: And are they?

She shakes her head sadly.

Me: Listen, don't feel bad about what you did in the past. It's all about the present and future now right?
Victoria: Right.
Me: These lessons that you're learning, it's time to apply them in your everyday life. I want you to cook yourself your favorite meal tonight and watch your favorite movie.

A small smile appears on her face.

Victoria: It's been a while since I've did that. That sounds nice.

Our time runs out and I tell her same time next week. I fall back into my desk chair utterly exhausted, I've had one hell of a week and it's only Tuesday, so that's saying a lot.

Someone knocks on my door and I sigh.

Me: Come in!

A bouquet of roses floats into my room, Jooheon's face pops from behind them making me smile. I run up to him kissing all over his face.

Jooheon: Hi baby.
Me: Hi, what're you doing here?
Jooheon: I had some time in between my schedule so I decided to bring you these.
Me: They're beautiful, thank you.

I place them on my desk before hugging him again. He smells so good I almost forgot I was at work, bring it back Santana bring it back.

Jooheon: How's your day going?
Me: It's alright so far. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tired.
Jooheon: You've been working hard lately. When's the last time you did something for you?

Oh.

Me: You know me. As long as you guys are fine I'm fine.
Jooheon: I think not! You should schedule yourself a spa day this weekend. Get a massage, do a steam, and like whatever else you do there.

I chuckle.

Me: That doesn't sound too bad.
Jooheon: Self care girl! I got a facial earlier.
Me: That explains why your face is so soft.

He gives me a dimple filled smile.

Jooheon: I'm serious Santana. I've been seeing you run around like wonder woman and while that's admirable I'm still worried.
Me: You're completely right. I will give myself some proper care and recharge this weekend.

He kisses me.

Jooheon: I love you.
Me: I love you too.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the world and people around us we forget the most important thing, ourselves. The patience, chances, and love you give others should be applied to yourself.

Speak kindly to yourself, speak highly of yourself.

Water yourself.
