Cina's point of view

I am exhausted.

It's been rather gloomy in the hospital lately, not to mention my staff has been very needy. Doctor Park-Kang this, Chief Cina that. If one more person asks me for something-

"Oh Cina!"

Judging from the way he's dressed and shaking the clipboard he's ready to do evaluations. I love my husband dearly and can never thank him enough for buying and investing in my dream, but there are times where I want to fight his ass too.

That time is now.

Seonghwa: Three deaths during surgery in two days, damn double o' seven.
Me: Shut..-

I stop myself from replying in our normal marriage couple banter. At the hospital I try my best to be professional during his evaluations. I clear my throat, taking a deep breath before responding.

Me: Those surgeries were ones where nothing was guaranteed. We warned the patients before hand there could be complications, with every surgery there is. Even something as simple as getting your tonsils removed.

He glares at me as I remind him of his tonsillectomy next month.

Seonghwa: So I see.

Two workers come storming my way, Angela is a nurse while Kenny is an environmental service worker.

Angela: Doctor Park-Kang can you please tell Kenny when patients are discharged it's his job to clean the room after!
Kenny: Doctor Park-Kang can you please tell Angela it's her job to strip the room before I clean!

Seonghwa gives me the side eye.

Seonghwa: Seems like teamwork isn't making the dream work Chief Kang.

This motherlover just took away his last name.

Angela: The environmental service department has been slacking ma'am.
Kenny: Maybe because the nurses are slobs!
Angela: Slobs?
Kenny: And lazy! If we're short staffed why would you complain about your break room not being cleaned? The patients are priority!

I nod my head, he has a point.

Angela: If you guys would actually stay on break for fifteen minutes instead of thirty you'd have more time!

She also has a point.

Me: Okay, let's all relax. The patients are always first priority here, so as a nurse manager Angela if they don't have time to clean the break room make your nurses clean up after themselves. This is work not their living-room.

Kenny snickers.

Me: And you..

He gulps.

Me: With two fifteen minute breaks and a hour lunch there's no reason out of the entire environmental staff no one can spend five minutes at least sweeping the break room when they have a chance. Time management is important in healthcare.

Seonghwa nods jotting down something on his clipboard.

Me: Also we're a team here, talk to each other like you have some sense.
Kenny: Yes ma'am.
Angela: Sorry chief.

The two of them disappear as quick as they came.

Seonghwa: You handled that smoothly.
Me: Don't sound so surprised Jackass.
Seonghwa: Temper, temper!

We go for the usual walk through as I tell him what supplies we need more of and anything that needs to be fixed. A tired Ten appears behind a nurse station flipping through notes.

Seonghwa: Dr.Lee, how's it going?

Ten sighs seeing that Hwa's on his CEO bullshit.

Ten: Good sir, how are you?
Seonghwa: Great. Two neuro surgeries back to back last week, huh?
Ten: It was a tough one.
Seonghwa: Yeah, nothing is tougher than dying.

We both glare at him, he's getting no ass for a week.

Ten: Risky procedures end in risky outcomes sometimes.
Seonghwa: I know but I wouldn't be me if I didn't bust your balls. You guys are boring. Everything is basically perfect here. Low fatality rate, high recovery rate, excellent teaching scores, blah, blah, blah.

He rolls his eyes playfully.

Seonghwa: My wife had a dream and achieved it.

I smile wholeheartedly.

San comes around the corner with Santana, both of them enjoying a blueberry muffin.

Seonghwa: Where were you?
San: After touring the psych and dentistry floors I got hungry. Sannie number two bought me a muffin.
Santana: San's evaluation was quick and to the point.
Ten: Hwa's was annoying.
Santana: As always.

The man in question groans.

Seonghwa: You guys would be bored without me.
Me: Some how I think we'd survive.
Seonghwa: Wow, I'm going to take you out my will!

He doesn't even have one you guys...

___

I stare at my twenty unread emails and sigh.

I may have girl bossed a little too hard.

A knock at my door takes my attention away from the screen and I quietly thank God for the much needed distraction. Raven walks in and smiles.

Raven: How are you?
Me: Oh just peachy, a little tired though. Are you okay?
Raven: Yeah, just wondering if you read my email?

I glance at the screen then back at her.

Me: About that, I was just about to go through them.

She laughs shaking her head.

Raven: It wasn't too important. Just information about the event at the local clinic next weekend, I'm going to be there cracking some bones while Ten does routine physicals.

Shit I forgot. This specific clinic is for people who can't afford healthcare so the clinic seeks out doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel to help.

Me: I shall be there.

Her eyes widen.

Raven: Oh no! I didn't send it so you'd come, I just figured you can pass it along to others. I know you've been super busy lately.

I wave my hand.

Me: It's nothing coffee can't fix. I'll be there, heart disease runs rampant and quietly sometimes. Santana will come too, YangYang as well so there will be more than one therapist.
Raven: Are you sure?

I smile.

Me: As my husband saids if you're able to help someone and you don't, you're an asshole. I've always believed God blessed me so I can bless others.

So even when I feel overwhelmed, or burned out I take a step back and just name off all the good things. They always end up outweighing the bad.
