Cina's point of view

Bacon or sausage?

Oatmeal or grits?

Orange juice or apple juice?

These are the only hard decisions I want in my life right now. I stare into the fridge still trying to decide which one I want.

"You're running up my light bill standing there with the refrigerator door open."

Me: Shut up, I'm trying to concentrate.
Seonghwa: On how to walk and blink at the same time.

I grab the closest thing to me and throw it, unfortunately for him it was a ketchup bottle.

Seonghwa: I took this Saturday off to spend time with you but I see you just want to bring me pain.
Me: I'm deciding what to make for breakfast.

He hums.

Me: Bacon or sausage?
Seonghwa: Sausage sounds good.
Me: Okay so bacon it is. Oatmeal or grits?
Seonghwa: I haven't had grits in a while.
Me: Oatmeal wins, orange juice or apple juice?
Seonghwa: Ap..-
Me: Orange juice.

I skip over kissing his cheek before grabbing the ingredients.

Me: Cheese or non-cheese eggs?
Seonghwa: I feel like it doesn't matter what I pick but non-cheese.
Me: Two cheese it is!

He chuckles to himself as he loads up the keurig.

Yeosang shuffles in with his hair going every which way. I kiss him on his cheek as well ruffling his cloud nest.

Me: Slept good?
Yeosang: Yeah except someone was using my back as a punching bag.

I frown.

We have a California king bet and I still find away to be all over them.

Me: I schedule you a massage later, okay?
Yeosang: I don't want anyone touching me but you.

He kisses my forehead.

Yeosang: What's for breakfast?
Me: Seonghwa said he wants bacon, two cheese eggs, oatmeal, and orange juice.
Seonghwa: I absolutely did not.

Yeosang shrugs.

Yeosang: Can we have pancakes?
Me: Waffles it is.

Yeosang blinks.

Seonghwa: She's been doing the opposite all morning, if you want tea ask for coffee.

The back door slides open and Hwasang tip-toes in, he sees us all standing there and chuckles nervously.

Hwasang: H-hey parents, hey.
Me: Goodmorning. Any reason why you're sneaking in at seven in the morning eventhough you have you're own house?

He rubs his neck nervously, looking just like his dad.

Hwasang: So it's my turn to cook breakfast at the house and there's nothing to cook with. That's because it was also my turn to grocery shop yesterday.

We blink.

Me: So your fridge is empty?
Hwasang: Almost. I have to hurry up and do something about it before Wonnie locks me outside in my underwear again.

They choke on their coffee.

Me: That house sounds like a damn fraternity, here you go.

I give him a carton of eggs, sausage, grits and apple juice. Along with corn beef hash and pancake mix.

Hwasang: You're a life saver mom.
Me: I'm the shiz-nit I know.
Seonghwa: Dork.
Yeosang: Lame.

I get no respect in this house.

My bandit of a son sneaks back out.

Me: So for dinner..-
Seonghwa: Absolutely not, I'll handle it. My indecisive wife can rest.

I giggle making their plates.

The three of us sit around the table eating and laughing. No stress, just vibes. With the kids out the house house we do this a lot now. Sitting around just getting to re-know each other.

You can be around someone everyday and not notice their change. Their tone, their likes and dislikes, their fears, and so much more. It's good to get to know the people around you again so you can rebuild your bond.

Always growing with each other.
