CHAPTER ELEVEN
A few weeks have passed since I arrived in Volterra, Italy and I honestly couldn't be happier. A few interesting things have happened since the day I was introduced to the coven. The first occurred a day later when I received a personal call from Chelsea, one of Charlie's guards.
"Hello?" I answered my phone, unsure of who the unknown number was.
"Hello, My Lady, this is Chelsea." She immediately replied, sounding rather nervous.
"Hi Chelsea, is everything okay?" I asked, worried if Charlie or one of the guards had been hurt and why she was calling me directly instead of one of my mates.
"Erm, yes, everything is fine. No one has been hurt, My Queen." She assures me but she still sounds off.
I sigh and say, "Chelsea I can hear the nervousness in your voice. Whatever you have to tell me can not possibly be that bad. You may speak freely and please for the love of God call me by my name or some kind of variation. The titles still make me uncomfortable."
"As you wish, Sophie. I called because something happened between your uncle....and myself." She squeaked out the last part.
"Oh?" I ask, smirking as I tried and failed to hold in a squeal, "Tell me! Wait....OH MY GOD YOU ARE MATES!"
The realization hit me. Her nervousness, the reason she called me directly and the reason I got the feeling about her right before she left for Forks.
"Yes, My Queen." She answers quietly.
"Chelsea!" I whined, not caring about being informal with her anymore. She's basically my Aunt/ mom now anyhow.
"Sorry, Sophie. I figured I'd tell you before someone else did." Chelsea laughed nervously.
"Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! Have you talked to him yet? What was your reaction? OH MY GOD THIS MEANS I GET TO KEEP MY DAD FOREVER!" At this point I didn't care if I was telling, my excitement was through the roof.
There was a pause before she asked, "So you don't mind that I'm mated to him?"
I giggle while bouncing on my bed," no, of course not! This is fate and you don't argue with fate! I learned that the hard way! Go get him and tell me how it goes! I want regular updates!"
"I promise!" She said, sounding much more relaxed and happy, "I've got to go, Sophie! Afton and Santiago are back from their hunt."
"Bye, have fun!" I said then hung up.
After that, the next thing happened when my mates were busy with some paperwork and alliance contracts with a few covens that needed renewed. I couldn't speak any of the languages, yet, so I decided to spend that time roaming the castle.
After I found myself thoroughly lost in a part of the castle I had never been to, I bumped into Jane.
"Miss Sophia," she says with a slight bow, "do you need assistance?"
I reached up and scratched the back of my neck and admitted, "I'm kind of lost and extremely bored. I'm out of books to read and my lovely mates have forbidden me from going to the local library or book store without one of them present and they are all busy at the moment."
Jane looked thoughtful then offered me her hand and said, " Come with me. I may have something you're interested in."
I was doubtful, given my reading tastes but took her hand and followed her anyhow.
She led me to the part of the castle that houses the guards, then to the floor specifically set for the elite guard and the king's personal guard. When we reached her room I was a little shocked to see several shelves of books that were decorated in various fandom merch items.
