JIMIN POV
Pinching the bridge of my nose,
I took a few deep breaths so I didn't verbally rip Hunter's
head off.
"I don't know what you are talking about."
"Kook and I aren't like that."
"We haven't even seen each other in almost two weeks."
"Ever since the other night,
when—"
"When you broke up his date with that fucking asshole."
"Yeah."
Hunter leaned toward me over the table, widening his bright blue eyes in a way I found particularly obnoxious right now.
For a small man he took up a
lot of real estate.
"And you haven't seen him since?"
"I saw him later that night."
"He came over to my house, stood on my porch."
"It was weird."
"He asked me why I had interrupted his date, He asked me if it was just protectiveness that had made me step in or
if there was another reason."
Hunter's mouth fell open and
if I weren't such a foul mood
I might have laughed.
As it was I snorted a little.
"What did you tell him?"
His voice rose on that last
word and I did crack a smile.
"The truth, I told him I didn't enjoy watching him let those men walk all over him and I wasn't going to sit back and let one of them do it in front of me."
"So you told him it was only protectiveness."
"I suppose."
"You idiot." Hunter started to smile.
"What?" I felt exhausted with this all and I couldn't help the growl in my voice.
"He was giving you an opportunity and you blew it."
"An opportunity to do what?"
"To admit your feelings, To say you didn't like seeing him on
a date with another man."
Hunter shrugged and stared in
a way that made me feel like I was slow in the head.
"To say you wanted to take
that guy's place and you, you idiot, you totally blew it."
"Admit my feelings?" I asked carefully.
I didn't understand...
why Hunter thought....
"Jimin."
Hunter leaned forward, placing both hands on the table so I could see them, an old truth-telling trick I'd taught him years ago when I told him that I never quite believed someone who
had their hands hidden in an interrogation room.
Now whenever Hunter did that,
I knew he was as serious as he could get.
"You and Jungkook love each other, It is as obvious to the
rest of us as it is completely inconceivable to either of you."
"You two have been dancing around each other for years."
"Neither one brave enough to confess their feelings for fear
of losing the other."
My stomach twisted at the thought that I'd been so blind.
I'd been trained in interrogation techniques and maybe they weren't everything you could know about a person but the signs weren't there.
