JIMIN POV
We played around with the phrases a long time, trying
to figure out where the
code was hidden.
Our first clue was the
numbers that had been flipped from a six to a five and
that was where we started.
"Wait." Jih said, a few
moments later.
"Jimin, how many of Jiwoo's
men flipped and told us the information we needed for
the raids?"
I looked up and met his eyes.
We both knew the answer.
I said it out loud anyway.
"After the kid rolled, four
others added information."
"Five." Jungkook breathed.
"five of his men."
"Fuck." Jih and I said at
the same time.
"What does that
mean?" Jungkook asked.
"It means they have plans for the men who betrayed them."
"We just don't know what."
We were all quiet then, wishing we knew the rest of their code.
"Unless." Jungkook said, deep
in thought, staring at the words he'd written on the page.
His green eyes sparkled for
the first time in a long while
as he thought furiously.
"Unless what?" Jih asked.
I waited, trying to be patient.
"Unless them speaking in Spanish was part of the
code?" Jungkook suggested, looking up at us.
"It was such a small
moment, one little word,
they could have just as
easily said it in English."
"Where are you going
with this?" I asked.
"Si." Jungkook said.
"Si, yes, yes, all is good."
"Except all wasn't good."
"Not for them."
"His brother had found out
five of their men had turned."
"What if he wasn't saying yes?"
"What if he was suggesting
what they do to the men?"
Jih and I looked at each other
as Jungkook repeated it again, only this time he said the word differently, like it was sigh.
"Silence." Jih and I said at
the same time, before we
were out of our chairs and running into the hallway.
Jih turned around abruptly, causing me to nearly run
into him.
"You stay with Jungkook."
"He needs you, I can call
the prison."
I nodded, trusting him to
deal with this.
He was right, Jungkook
needed me.
I walked back into the interrogation room and
right up to Jungkook.
"You are brilliant, you
know that?" I said.
"Brilliant and amazing and
I am so lucky that you are
with me."
He looked up at me and
smiled.
He was looking right at me in
a way he hadn't in a while.
Somehow, I think this day
had been good for us.
