Shadow's POV (last night)
As I reached home, I saw my sister, Rouge, waiting for me also with dinner on the table.
"New lover already? Didn't you just break up with Nova two weeks ago?" She teased.
"Shut up. She just wasn't what I expected, this dude's different. He makes me feel different." I smiled as I thought of Sonic.
"Really? You sure you won't leave him after one month?" She raised her eyebrow.
"I don't think he likes me anyways." I grabbed my bento box and went to my room. But rouge followed me in.
"You know.. if you like him that much, make him like you back!"
"I did! I tried being flirty and stuff but I'm scared of making him uncomfortable.."
"Well is he new to town? Does he go to our school?"
"Yes and yea."
"Then talk to him in school! Or text him if you have his number, I'm sure he isn't that hard to get together with."
"Okay.. I'll try."
"Good, now finish your dinner then sleep, don't be late for school tomorrow."
I nodded and thankfully she closed the door unlike any other sibling to be honest. I gobbled up my dinner and texted Sonic right after, I saw that he was offline so I assumed he was asleep and sent him a goodnight message before heading off to sleep myself. I was lowkey excited to see him tomorrow at school.
Sonic's POV (this morning)
"Sonic! It's time for school! Wake up!" Mother shouted from downstairs.
I yawned and slowly got out of bed to brush my teeth and change into something appropriate for school. I practically dragged myself and my bag down the stairs, I was still super tired. I grabbed the toast my mom made and stuffed it into my mouth while grabbing my lunchbox and shoving it into my bag. I waved goodbye to my parents and continued to walk to school as I was literally half asleep.
As I reached school, I took a deep breathe and walked in. Hm, it seemed a lot like my old school. It took me a while to find the principal's office as the hallways were crowded and I had to squeeze myself through. I knocked on the door to get permission from the principal before walking in.
"Hi, you must be Sonic! Welcome to South Bridge High School. I have assigned you a buddy, his name is Miles and I'm sure you two will get along superbly! Here is your timetable and your locker number. We'll wait for him to come and he'll lead you to wherever." The principal smiled as she walked away.
Okay? So now I'm alone in the principal's office and apparently I need to wait for someone named Miles? I tapped my fingers on my knees impatiently. Then I heard a long creak and a voice speaking.
"Uh hello? Is Sonic here?" It sounded like an 8 year old speaking.
"Yea, hi." I stood up to see a short, twin tailed yellow fox? Isn't he quite short for a high schooler?
"Oh hi! I'm Miles Prower as you probably already know but my friends call me Tails! Yea you may be wondering why I sound and even look young.. well I'm eight but a high schooler, amazing isn't it?" He chuckled.
Oh so he's a smart kid. Cool I guess.
"Follow me, I'll show you your locker!" I followed him as he skipped out of the principal's office.
My locker number was 3552, luckily it wasn't too far from my class. After putting my unnecessary books and stuff into my locker, Miles led me to my classroom. Since he wasn't in the same class as me he made sure I sat down and had my stuff before he went off to his. I rested my chin on my palm and almost dozed off when I heard a familiar voice.
"You seem familiar."
I turned around and saw the ebony hedgehog standing beside me. I tried to hold in my excitement and acted cool.
"Oh its you." I sighed.
"Mind if I sit here?"
"No, not at all"
"Thanks."
It fell silent again, it was kind of awkward so I continued sleeping before lesson started. And Shadow seemed to be drawing? I didn't know he could. But then again, I barely knew him. The teacher walked into the class and we both paid attention.
"Alright class, today we have a new student!" The teacher signalled me to go up to the front and I sighed, dragging my feet up there, I didn't like talking in front of the class.
"Please say your name and something you like!"
"Hi I'm Sonic and I like.. running?" I mumbled.
"Thank you Sonic, you may have a seat."
I went back to my seat and basically zoned out for the entire lesson until I noticed a little note on my desk, I opened it and it said:
wanna come hang at my place later? -shadow
I replied with:
nahh my parents dont like it when im barely home
I saw Shadow's smile fade and I kinda felt bad but I also didn't want to upset my parents. We had another lesson before lunch so I met Miles at my locker again so he could lead me to my other class. Thankfully, he was in the same class as me this time.
I also noticed that Shadow's locker was near to mine so I guess that's good? I can look at him more often.. wait no - that sounds creepy.
Miles sat next to me and took notes for everything while I zoned out again. What if I actually went over to Shadow's place again? What would we do? Would we kiss again? I blushed at the thought of the kiss but snapped back into reality when the ear-piercing bell rang, it's a lot louder when you sit nearer to the front. Miles brought me back to my locker and we went off for lunch.
