Carlisle's POV

I've found my mate. Her scent and her blood, sweet. She's hurt and I couldn't help her. Oh what it took not to just take her away from harm.

"You met with her?" Edward says.

"Please don't look into my mind like that."

"I can't help it and you know that." He hisses back. Feeling a wave of warmth coming from Jasper.

"Is she ok? She hasn't been coming to school." Alice says.

"She fell and got hurt but I don't think that is the reason she isn't at school."

"Oh I heard from the lady at the grocery store. Abbie was the first early graduate of Forks High. About a year and half early." Esme says.

"How lucky for her but I miss a friend." Alice says.

"I'm going on a hunt." I walk out.

Abbie's POV

Movies is a great pass time when injured but hard to do when you can only use one hand. I take my pain meds to watch Ratatouille and eat soup when slowly start shutting my eyes.

Carlisle's POV

Instead of hunting I sneak to see if Abbie is alright with her injuries. She gasp when smelled my scent, she knows.

I see her sleeping with a bowl of soup in her lap. I slowly open the window and walk to her bed side to help her sleep comfortably. She stirs a little.

"Mmh~" she turns her head. I heard her heartbeat faster.

"It's okay. Just grabbing the soup." I softly whisper.

"Oh. I fell aslee-. What are you doing in my room?!" She raises her voice a little.

"To make sure you were ok after your fall."

"You need to leave. Thank you for grabbing the soup." She grabs the soup cup to placed the lid on it.

"You didn't feel the pull?"

"I did but I can't. I do-"

"Why not?!" I scream.

Abbie's POV

"B-because I lied to you and you're not my on-." I stuttered out.

"I've waited hundreds of years for you, my mate. Whatever it is I understand and will not rush you. Please." He whispers out cutting me off.

"I may not tell you the whole truth to protect myself. But I don't just control animals, I work to serve The Mother of women and children. I don't like the idea of men as they haven't been kind to me except Charlie and my soul brothers. I hid my scent and heartbeat for those same reasons. I hope you can understand." I whisper out, looking out the window. Tears slowly stream down my face.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you. I have heard of their legends, never been in the presence of the chosen demigods." He says as he moves closer to sit on my bed.

I curl my legs towards my body, feeling the anxiety of his presence.
"You know about the gods and goddesses?"

"Yes. I'll work to earn your trust. I respect the decision the gods and goddess have made for those in the supernatural world." His eyes darken a bit.

"Are you hungry?" Random question as I like to continue smelling oatmeal, his scent. "Carlisle? I have animal blood." I whisper.

"I was to feed today. I ca-"

"Don't. I haven't finished my food and Charlie will be upset at me because that is how I ended in the hospital today. We can have a meal together?"

"Now I'm worried about your well being." He looks at me serious.

"Please. Don't move. I'll go grab it." Walking to my mini fridge in the bathroom meant for skincare products but I use for animal blood. As I worked on a gift to apologize for missing a dinner.

"Deer or mountain lion?" I call out.

"Deer" he replies.

Carlisle's POV

"Here. It's a bit cold but I can warm it to normal temperature of a deer if you liked." She hands me the blood before sitting back on her to finish her soup.

"You can do that?" I questioned.

"Yes. I share gifts with all the others. I can do many things that the others can't." She grabs some more food.

"How long have you been a vampire?" I stop drinking.

"I'm trying know you. We are soulmates, it's good to know each other." She says as I nod to reply.

"I was born in London, 1640. Raised by my father who was a pastor hunting the supernatural. As my father grew old, I took over the hunting of the monsters. I led a hunt to vampires and got attacked. I was repelled as I was something I hunted and tried everything to kill myself. But nothing work and don't want to kill humans so I survive on animal blood. As time went on, I found myself in Italy studying to be a doctor and the language of course. I left to the new world as my diet on animal blood wasn't easy and met Esme and the others. Here we are now."

I look up to see her with a finished plate, analyzing me. Deciding what to say.

"I should let you rest now. The medication can cause sleepiness." I move up.

"Wait. It's barely 8 pm and I don't have school. Stay to tell more of your stories?" She looks pleading.

"I have more blood if that is what you are worried about." She takes the empty bottle and rushes to the bathroom again.

"I finished my food and here is more for you. You can tell me stories while I try not to control my barriers. Please."

"May I ask about that?" I softly ask.

She takes a deep breath before answering, "I have trauma from childhood caused by men. I set barriers to calm my anxiety and panic attacks but with faith. I'm learning to lower my barriers for my soulmates and not worry some much about men. I sometimes use Charlie's clothes, scent of coffee." She moves to grab Charlie's shirt.

"Don't hide your scent. It smells fresh and sweet." I say to stop her actions.

"Fine I won't but please tell me another story."

"Yes I will."
