Chapter 28

Carlisle's POV

My little daisy sleeps peaceful on my shoulder. Her little hums and puffs as she dreams. I remain being her shoulder pillow to sleep.

Time passes as slowly my kids comeback from hunting. With worried looks they come in the kitchen.

"What happened?" Alice asks.

"Nap time." I respond.

"I didn't see that." Alice whines.

"She probably has a barrier for that too." Jasper said rubbing Alice's arms for comfort.

Abbie begins to stir under the new voices. I rub her hand a little bit to show she's not in danger. While others go to do there normal routine.

Abbie's POV

I began to feel cold and The Mother tried to warm me in her grasp. I stir moving into a comfortable position. Slowly I began to wake up hearing my phone ringing. A call. I move to pick up not even looking to see who it is.

"Hello." I say not opening my eyes.

"Sister, where are you? I'm home, waiting." I hear Evan in an episode.

"Oh Evan. I'll be there. Just grab honey bee and lay on the bed. Don't let the outsiders know you're in there." I hang up and starting up to call a boxing club manager, Jerry, another demigod.

"Give me a minute." I whisper. Throwing myself to the other side of the couch to lay down again.

"Jerry, Evan is in episode. We cannot go in." I said.

"Aww shit. Bets off! Something came up." I hear him speak to the people there already in his country accent.

"Well hope y'all feel better soon. You sure you don't wanna stop by?" He says hoping I go.

"I can't. You know what causes the episode. Thank you and bye." I hang up turning to Carlisle.

"You're beyond freezing when you relax. Hello Emmett." I see Emmett on the floor.

"Hello animal whisper. How was the nap or what were the calls for?" He asks.

"My reason to leave your house. I must go home now. My brother is - how do I put it? In need of my presents." I say folding the blanket and placing the pillows in order.

"Will I see before you go?" Carlisle ask holding my wrist.

"I'm not sure. There's a lot going on right now but I will try." I touch the back of his hand.

"I apologize for freezing you." Carlisle says taking in my touch.

"It's alright. It was a nice nap. Thank you. Bye bye." I leave to my house.

With all the thoughts and stresses going through my head. I didn't see Carlisle until January 9. The last third days of the past year were reflecting on pasted actions that made me regret, sorrow, and anger. Then News Year Eve before midnight, we burned all the things we wanted to let go into the New Year taking whatever we learning of that thing holding us back.

We celebrate with food, drinks and entertainment. Most of us enjoyed the time together. I stayed away from all that other drinking and eating.

I went to my rock in the middle of the sea. Like the little mermaid though alone and depressed. Thinking and overthinking.

When I got home, I cleaned my suitcase and then showered scrubbing hard. Once done, I dressed into comfortable hoodie and sweats. Sleeping away the day.

Now to the present time. Driving to work with icy roads. With a warm outfit, hot chocolate and chocolate croissants for anyone at the shop.

"Hello Anna, I brought croissants from everyone. Thank you for the time off." I go to the counter.

"Your welcome, Abbie. The chilly morning is nice when paired with croissants. Relaxed day today. Not much to do other the organize for weddings and bridal showers." She points the books to do inventory.

"Alright. Enjoy!" I grab the book to head to the back of the store and begin to count the dresses.

Around noon I finish half the store. We start to get a bit busy. I take to finish when I bump into someone.

"Oh I'm sorry. Alice?"

"Abbie, so this is where you work. We all have been worried especially Carlisle." She holds my wrist.

"I haven't had the chance to get around yet. I've been busy. I got home 2 days ago."
I swing my hand.

"May you stop by today? Esme can cook something for you." Alice asks.

"Alright. I get off around 3 pm, I'll stop by. Gives Esme time to prepare lunch?" I ask her.

"Yes! I'll tell the others! Hope to see you soon!" Alice rushes out the store.

~~ Skip to the Cullens house ~~

"What's on the menu tonight?" I say to Esme in surprise.

"Oh Abbie! You're here? The menu is baked potato bacon soup with chicken sandwiches." She hugs me.

"Sounds delicious. I'll be around." Walking around the house.

Seeing Alice and Jasper reading together, Rosalie was cleaning the Jeep,  Emmett playing games and Carlisle reading medical literature. Edward is gone with Isabella. Haven't seen her in a while.

"Evening, Alice says you've been worried. So I decided to come by for dinner." I say making Carlisle look up.

In a flash the door is closed, my back pressed against the door and his arms cage me in.

"Why didn't you answer?" Stiffly he asks me.

"I was busy. Really rushed. Barely got house 2 days ago to get all personal things in order and went to work. Alice must have been searching for some time." I say reaching for his shoulders to relax.
