Matt got ready for his date.
A part of him wanted to go on the date, but another part of him didn't.
It's just one date, he told himself. It might not even go anywhere. She might not like me like that.
A part of him felt guilty. His mind kept going back to Alex and how she was feeling. Sure, she was the one who told him to go on the date, but he couldn't help but feel guilty.
Just go on the date, he kept telling himself. Just this one.
Matt met up with Olivia at a sushi bar. He got there before her.
His leg shook anxiously as he waited for her to come.
When she did, he instantly stood up, hitting his leg against his table.
Olivia tried to suppress a smile and chuckle when that happened.
He chuckled as a way to let her know that it was okay for her to laugh at him if she wanted to.
She smiled when he chuckled.
"Hi, Matt," Olivia said.
"Hey," Matt said.
"When did you get here?" Olivia asked as they sat down.
"Um, five minutes ago, I think," Matt said.
Olivia smiled.
"So," she said, "how are you?"
"Al - alright," Matt shrugged. "How - how are you?"
"Good," she said, "I guess."
"That's - what's wrong?" Matt asked, concerned.
"Um, I don't have to worry about Alex Russo, do I?" she asked.
"What? No," Matt assured her. "Alex and I are just friends. You don't have -" Matt stopped himself.
He knew that even if he said that she doesn't have to worry about it, it is something that she could worry about.
"Look, okay, I know what it looks like," Matt admitted. "Alex and I go way back and dated for a little bit, but... nothing is going on. We're just friends. I get why you would worry, I do, but I promise you, we're just friends."
Olivia hesitated but nodded.
"O - okay," Olivia said, nervously. "Let's order."
Olivia called over the waiter and she and Matt ordered their food.
Matt let Olivia talk about whatever and everything she wanted to talk about. He didn't mind listening to her talk about whatever she wanted.
He had no clue what half the things she talked about, but he didn't mind.
Listening to her talk will help him get to know her, somehow. If this goes anywhere, he would know what she likes and doesn't like and would be able to be as good as a boyfriend he could be.
He then remembered that he was a werewolf. How good of a boyfriend would he be if he has to lie to her once a month about his disappearance?
"Hey, Matt, Matt!" Olivia said.
"Hm?"
"You okay?" Olivia asked.
"What? Oh, um, yeah, yeah," he lied. "I'm okay."
Olivia seemed to believe him.
She continued to talk about her dad's business.
"Hey, if you're looking for a second job," Olivia said, "you could work as an intern or something at my dad's company."
