31 - The Mummy

Matt wasn't in the best headspace to help his friends, but he did.

As soon as Justin realized that werewolves could follow a scent, he asked Matt and Mason to follow the scent.

"I was a human, Justin," Matt said, slightly annoyed. "Just because I am a werewolf now, doesn't mean I'm your lap dog."

"I'm sorry," Justin said, "but please, I need to find Juliet."

"Mason's nose is probably better than mine," Matt said. 

"It might be," Mason agreed, "seeing you were not a werewolf before."

"Anyways," Justin said, pulling out a string with Juliet's scent. 

He had Mason sniff the string and the next thing they knew, they were in the woods somewhere in Transylvania. 

"It's not fair," Max sighed as they waited for Mason.

Matt had a tight grip on Jack's shoulder, feeling a little lightheaded.

Jack had his arm on Matt's back, making sure he did not fall over or anything.

"How come he gets to pee on every tree we pass and you slap me when I did it?" Max asked his sister.

Mason stood up, sighing in relief.

"That's better," Mason said.

Mason held up the string and began to sniff it as he walked. 

He stopped when he was standing next to Alex and kissed her on the cheek.

The heart necklace she was wearing glowed red.

Matt scoffed and rolled his eyes. Nobody noticed except for Jack.

"Have you talked to Taylor yet?" Jack asked.

"I texted her asking her to meet tomorrow."

"Ooh," Alex said when Mason kissed her on the cheek. "Hey, I've been meaning to ask you something. The question applies to you, Matt. I thought when a werewolf kisses a non - werewolf, they turn into a werewolf?"

"That's only with mutts," Mason said. "I'm a purebred. Matt got turned into a werewolf, so there was no way he would be able to turn a human into one unless..."

"Unless I wasn't locked in a room and attacked and bit someone," Matt said.

"Like in Harry Potter," Jack said.

They all looked at him.

"What?" Mason said.

"Like in Harry Potter," Jack said. "One of the characters, Remus Lupin, a werewolf bit Lupin when he was a little kid and had to spend the rest of his life turning into a werewolf every full moon. Matt's that way."

"Huh," Matt said. "Didn't make the connection."

Mason led the way into this courtyard.

That was when Matt began to smell something.

"Oh, I smell her," Matt said. "I definitely smell her now."

He immediately cringed.

"I mean - I can smell her scent," Matt said. "I can smell the scent."

"Oh, I smell her as well," Mason agreed.

"Wow," Jack said.

"Juliet!" Justin called. 

He turned to Matt and Mason.

"Are you sure we're in the right place?" Justin asked.

"Yes," Matt said.
