Midnight struck.

"Are you okay, buddy?" Jack whispered to Matt as they followed their friends.

Matt was slowing down when he realized it was midnight.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Matt whispered.

This time, Matt wasn't lying. He really was fine.

Despite knowing that Matt was being honest about whether or not he's fine, that still didn't stop Jack worrying about his best friend.

The two fell behind from Evan, Alex and Harper.

They heard howling in the distance.

Matt looking up at the moon and turned around.

"Are you okay, buddy?"

"Those are werewolves," Matt looked at his best friend.

"They are?" Jack said.

Matt could see that Jack was trying not to smile a little.

"Yeah," he confirmed.

"Do you... what's the... I have so many questions," Jack admitted.

"I know," Matt said, looking back up.

Matt was resisting the urge to ran over to where the werewolves are.

"Guys!" Alex called after the two.

"Yeah?" Jack turned around.

"Come on!" Evan called.

"Okay!" Jack said.

Jack looked at Matt.

"Matt?" Jack said.

"You go on ahead," Matt said, looking back at Jack. "I'll catch up."

"Look, man, whatever you're thinking, don't do it," Jack advised.

"I'm not going to do anything," Matt promised.

The werewolves howled once again in the distance.

"I won't," Matt insisted. "Go ahead. I'll catch up."

Jack hesitated but went head and joined Evan, Alex and Harper.

"Is he okay?" Evan asked.

Since turning into a werewolf, Matt's senses enhanced. He can hear, see, and smell better. His sense of touch had enhanced as well. With that, he can hear conversations going on around him, but the disadvantage of it is that there's only so much he can hear and when there is a lot going on around him, it can lead him to having a pounding headache.

"He's fine," Jack said. "He said he'll catch up, but..."

"Matt!" Alex called out to him.

Matt turned around.

"Yeah?"

"You coming?" she asked.

"Uh, yeah, yeah," Matt nodded. "You guys go ahead."

Jack, Evan, and Alex glanced at each other.

"You hear him?" Harper said. "He said he'll catch up."

She turned to leave but Alex grabbed Harper's arm and prevented her from leaving.

"We're not leaving without you, Matt," Alex said,

"Alright, fine, I'm coming," Matt said.

Matt looked at the moon one more time before rejoining his friends.

Seeing how late it was, Harrison took it upon himself to take Jack and Evan back home. While he did that, Matt took off his shirt and laid on his bed.

He watched the clock tick.

Around forty - five minutes later, Matt heard the door open and close seconds later.

Matt knew it was his father coming home.

Matt knew his father will come up and check up on him so he quickly closed his bedroom lights and got under his covers.

He closed his eyes when his father slowly opened the door a little to check in on him.

Harrison closed the door seconds later and turned off the lights in the hallways.

Matt sat up on his bed and laid against his headboard.

Matt picked up his phone. It was nearly 1:30AM.

He heard the werewolves howling once again.

There's a part of him that desperately wanted to join the werewolves for the night, but he couldn't.

They won't accept him. They will never accept him.

Why would they accept one that was a human before being turned into a werewolf? They wouldn't take in a werewolf that was born a human then turned into a werewolf later on in their life?

This is his life now.

He can't join the werewolves, whether it's for the night or more because he was not part of the pact. He doesn't feel like he belongs with the humans since he's no longer one either.

Where he belongs, he doesn't know anymore.

He thought he had his life all figured out, but now... what now? He already doesn't have a normal life. Now that he's a werewolf, he can never be able to be as normal as he was.

Matt laid back on his bed, wishing he could be normal again.
