27 - Night at the Lazerama

Matt and Jack knocked on the Russo's door before entering.

They entered to see Conscious sitting on Max's lap with a book and Harper getting up from the armrest of the couch.

"Okay, Max, back to work," Conscious said.

"Hey," Matt said.

"What's up?" Jack said.

Max and Conscious greeted Matt and Jack.

"Matthew, Jack," Harper said.

"Let's try the 'Picture This' spell," Conscious told Max.

"What does that do?" Max asked as Matt and Jack followed Harper to the island in the kitchen and sat down.

Harper opened the box she brought with her.

Conscious explained to Max what the spell does.

Alex walked down the stairs.

She had just woken up.

"Guys... what is with all the yammering?" she complained. "It's the middle of the night."

"Shh!" Conscious said. "We're studying!"

Alex opened the fridge and pulled out the milk carton.

"Oh," Alex said. "I thought you were working on a ventriloquist act with two dummies."

Matt and Jack chuckled with Alex but Max and Conscious weren't amused.

"Conscience has been waking Max up and forcing him to study spells before he knows he's awake," Harper said. "He just learned the 'Picture This' spell."

"He did," Alex said, realizing that she was behind. "I haven't even learned that one yet. It's in the next chapter. And I only know it's in the next chapter because I put my gum there."

"Gross," Jack said disgustedly.

"He didn't even try the spell out," Matt said.

"That conscious can ruin my chance of being the family wizard," Alex said.

"You know what can ruin your chance? A little disease you have called laziness," Harper said.

"Hey, ignore her," Matt said as he stood up. "You've got this."

"Will you help me, Matt?" Alex asked, pleadingly.

"Yeah, sure," Matt said.

"Oh, I don't like this," Harper said, looking between the two. "I don't like this at all."

"Oh, shut up, Harper," Jack said. "Matt is trying to be helpful. Plus, he's already doing the independent study. He can help."

"Thank you," Alex said. "And I'm not lazy. I'm just resting up for my thirties. Yep. Got a lot planned."

Alex burped before she drank milk from the carton itself.

Matt and Alex went into the Russo's lair only to see Justin and Juliet were acting all couply.

Matt cringed.

"Hey, you two weirdos," Alex said, "get a cave."

"Don't be afraid of love, Alex," Juliet said. "It's what makes the world go 'round."

"Yeah, right," Matt scoffed. "If love is what makes the world go round, then my mom would've left us."

Alex placed her hand on Matt's shoulder and squeezed it reassuringly.

"It's okay," Alex said.

"Money makes the world go round," Matt said. "What will it cost for you two to get out of here so I can help Alex study?"
