Idris
It's been two weeks since Janet told me she was pregnant and I was still overjoyed. I had already started looking for houses, seeing as how we're going to be married, it seems like the perfect time. She wanted to wait, but there was no stopping me. "Idris, where are we going?" She laughed.

"Just wait, baby. I have a big surprise for you."

"Dad, I'm tired. We've been in the car for over an hour." said Isan.

"Me too, dada." said Winston. Eissa started whining.

"Mama."

"Hand him to me, Isan." said Janet. Isan took him out the car seat and passed him to Janet in the front seat. He laid against her and stopped crying. "It's okay, honey." He touched her stomach and laughed.

"Mama belly big." She laughed.

"Because Mama's having a baby."

"And it better be a girl." said Isan. "I need a sister." They laughed.

"If it's a girl, you're babysitting whenever I ask."

"Hold on now."

"No, no. You want a sister, right? If I have one, you're babysitting her."

"Fine, but I get to wear your shoes when your feet swell." Janet turned around.

"Who says my feet will swell?" Isan gave her a look.
"Oh see nope, you're not getting anything being like that."

"Hey! No fair. Someone has to wear those shoes."

"True, but it won't be you."

"Dad! Tell her to share her shoes."

"Don't listen to her, Idris."

"But daddy, she let me wear them before and her feet are going to get all big. It's not fair."

"See, you talked about my feet again. Why should I let you wear my stuff?"

"Because you're going to be my mom and moms need to show love to their daughters."

"I do love you."

"So I can wear the shoes?"

"No."

"Uhhh." She slammed back down in her seat. Janet giggled.

"Why do y'all always argue?" I asked her.

"Hey, she started it." I laughed. She turned around.
"You can wear some of the shoes." Isan hugged her from behind.

"Thank you, Mama Jay."

"You're welcome. Just don't talk about my feet anymore."

"I promise." She kissed her cheek and sat back down. I will never understand their relationship. One minute they're arguing and the next they're best friends. It's confusing.

I continued driving and of course they started complaining again. "Idris, I'm tired. Where are we going?" Truth be told, I had gotten lost, but I couldn't tell them that. I had just found my way again and got off at the exit. "Finally."

"Okay, guys. I have a big surprise." Janet looked around.

"Idris, this is thirty minutes from the house. Why have we been driving so long?"

"Because he was lost. Right, dad?"

"Let's focus on the surprise."

"Dad you're so dumb sometimes."

"Dada, dumb dumb."

"Dumb!" Eissa bounced in Janet's lap. They all laughed as I pulled up to a gate.
