Idris
"Where is she?!" I ran frantically to the front desk of the hospital. "Where's Janet Jackson? I'm her fiancé."

"Sorry sir. I can only allow immediate family up there."

"Listen woman, I am the father of her unborn child and her fiancé. You are going to let me know where she is, right now."

"Yes, sir." She typed quickly. "She's in room 732."

"Thank you." I ran quickly to the elevator. It didn't come fast enough so I started up the stairs. I was skipping three stairs at a time. Before I knew it, I was on the seventh floor. I ran down the hall and found her room. Inside, she was once again hooked up to machines. "Oh my god." I whispered to myself.

Going to the side of the bed, I looked at her face. She looked drained and like she had been crying. I needed someone to tell me what happened. All I know is that she fainted at her mother's house. There was nothing else after that. Just sobs from her mother and sister.

I laid my head on the bed while holding her hand and prayed that she was okay. I heard her groan and thought she was waking up, but she just stayed asleep. I wonder how she was feeling.

Janet
I ran around the backyard with water balloons as we threw them at each other. "Ow, mama!" She ran and threw one at me and wet my whole side. "Got you!" She laughed.

"Okay, that's enough on your mom, guys." Idris came off the patio.

"But dad.." Eissa whined.

"No buts, son. Let's take a break."

"Fine." They put the water balloons that weren't broken back into the bin.

"You want to go to the sports store? I'll get you a new basketball."

"Why?"

"Your tenth birthday is coming up. Early present."

"Cool." Eissa went into the house.

"We'll be back, honey. Anything you and the girls want while we're out?"

"I'm good."

"China needs food, daddy." Idris groaned.

"That damn dog. Okay sweetie." She hugged him. He headed to the car. "Eissa Elba! Let's go!" Eissa came running out of the house with a change of clothes on.

"Bye, mama!"

"Bye, sweetie." They drove off and I sat in one of the chairs. I laid back and closed my eyes to try and relax.

"Mama." I looked at my daughter as she sat next to me. "How are you feeling?"

"Hurt. I'm in a lot of pain."

"I know. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you."

"Why did you?"

"Because you weren't ready for us."

"How do you know?"

"He told me so." Off in the distance, there was a man waving. "He said that you needed more time before we came."

"But I wanted you so much. I was getting better for you."

"And that's the issue. You need to get better for yourself, mommy. You've been doing things for other people for far too long."

"But..."

"No buts mama." I looked to the other side of me and saw the same girl.

"Wait." I looked back and forth. Then it hit me. "Us"

"Yep."

"Wow."

"We love you, mommy."

Idris
I lifted my head as I heard Janet groan. She moved around before waking up. "Idris." She said in a whisper. I went up to her face and kissed her deeply.

"You need to stop scaring me like this."

"I'm sorry." I went to her belly and kissed it. "Idris." I looked up at her and she had sad eyes. Looking back at hey belly I shook my head.

"No. Please don't say it." I felt tears come to my eyes as I looked at her.

"I'm sorry."

"No." I laid on her as the tears poured from my eyes. "No." I wrapped my arms around her waist. "No. No. No. No. No." She touched my back.

"I'm so sorry."

"What happened?" I heard her sniffle.

"My blood pressure shot too high and sent the baby into distress. They had to get her out. They tried to save her but there was nothing else they could do."

"Why?"

"The doctor said he'd come to explain after I rested." I felt my heart start to break. All of this was really hurting me.

"I knew I shouldn't have let you go. What happened? Why was your blood pressure so high?" She looked away and closed her eyes. A few tears fell on her face. I went closer to her. Putting my hand on her cheek, I turn her to face me. "Baby." She opened her eyes. They were red.

"Not now." I felt a bit of anger rise in me.

"No."

"No?"

"Janet, I've respected your boundaries and rules. I haven't pressed you about your process or anything. I've sat by and just let you do you but I'm drawing the line. I need to know what caused this. For you and for the baby. I need to know." She looked at me for a few more seconds before looking away. There was something there and I knew it was something deeply rooted in her issues. I wanted her to open up. I needed her too.

"Tell the nurse I'm awake." I felt my heart drop. The anger I felt doubled. I let go of her hand and face.

"Fine. If that's the way you want it. I'll tell her and go."

"Okay."

"I love you, Janet."

"MmmHmm." My heart officially broke. I guess my fears were right.
