426. Thats what he said? He's already to my parents. We're only two turns from my parents drive way. Anxiety began to grip my chest. My arms began to wobble as an oncoming car was in my lane and scraped the black right off my car. I pulled over and stopped for a few seconds. Needing to gain some air. I didn't need to check the damage, but I need the air.

"Vi, Breathe."

"Candy why do you think I pulled over, sugar?"

"I figured you were maybe waiting on that guy to come back, he didn't take an interest in you."

"My love life in a sentence."

"Vi you know thats not what I meant."

"I'm nervous. This is my parents first time drinking my liquor and they clearly have High expectations with the size of the load. Theres like three cases back there. Not to mention my first actual boyfriend just kissed me." Candy let out a low whistle as her Eyes went wide.

"Your parents have always been the expectant type. You never told me about you and Charles Cook!"

"What can I say they grew up with a spoon shoved up their butt. It was actually four years ago and he and I had something going but I've had a thing for my childhood friend Ryan."

"At least it wasn't a silver one in their mouth. Ew, Charles? Seriously? Vi, aim higher he's a pig. You know he has like six kids right?"

"That doesn't stop how I feel about him."

"I think it'll take you being broken by him, won't it?"

"Probably."

"Violet lets get to your parents and get this unloaded. We need to get home soon we have two hours till curfew."

"I know." I pull back on to the road and glance at Candy. I release a shaky breath, a soft smile graces my lips.

I can feel the air from Candy's shattered window whipping against the wounds in the top of my back. Candy glanced at my shoulder.

"Oh my, Violet. Your shoulder!"

"Theres one in the top of my back too."

"How are you driving? How haven't you passed out?"

"The need to make my parents proud? I'm not actually sure."

"So you mean to tell me your body stopped bleeding so you could make your parents proud of you for making something they have high expectations for?"

"Something like that yes."

"Doesn't it hurt?"

"Only every time theres a curve in the road."

"Why didn't you ask me to drive?"

"You haven't slept well in a month Candy. I thought we'd be better off if I just bore the pain. Rather than have you dodge things that aren't there."

"Vi, you better ask your mom to clean those while slobber knocker and I unload."

"You do know dad's helping y'all too?"

"Yeah, I figured."

We sat in silence and for once my brain was empty. All I heard was silence as I turned left. The next turn would bring me to slobber knocker. My once quiet mind began to rumble with all too real possibilities of my parents.
