Infatuate 28

Infatuate - to inspire or possess with a foolish or unreasoning passion, as of love.

"By loving you I signed to be your protecter, your lover, and your leader."

"You love me?" I was internally screaming.

"What else would you call this, because infatuation doesn't fit. Veronica Vivian, you can't tell me that being willing to die for you or protect you at all costs because I couldn't live with myself if you went first, knowing there was something I could have done to save you, isn't love."

"What is love anyways, they say it's a feeling but then why is it that I  thought I loved Henry like you say you love me, but now I see I didn't love him like that?"

"Veronica, love is a choice. Love is mutual respect. Love is understanding when you don't have anything to understand. Love is sacrifices."

"I see, and you chose me?" I was nervous and giddy.

"Yes, I chose you, and I'll choose you every day for the rest of my life, even if you marry someone else you'll always have my love."

"Austin Cameron, You don't know how much that means to me."

It was four in the morning, I was staring at the ceiling.

Three days ago he said those words to me. And every night I've done nothing but wonder if I loved him the same way.

I wondered, did I love him? Or was this just some crush I would get over? I've never wanted to spend my life with any guy. Especially not the way I want to spend it with Austin. Is this what love feels like from my end?

Am I doing this right? I could feel the exhaustion in my body begin to shut my brain down wether I liked it or not. In mere moments I had fallen asleep.

My phone rang and I was not prepared for anything, I sat up voice full of sleep, rubbing my eyes, unplugged my phone, hit answer call, and pressed the phone to my head.

"Hello?" My voice came out lower than expected. I laid back down pulling my warm blankets back over me.

"Pack your things again, I'll be there In 15."

"Mhm." I rolled over "Just come in when you get here the doors not locked." I mumbled into the line.

"Veronica, how long were you awake last night?"

"Uh, four something I think."

"Sheesh, why?"

"You." I drifted off again. The world was quiet for a good while and then my door crept open.

"Veronica, wake up." I smiled at his voice.

I crawled out of bed in my too short, shorts and oversized t shirt. I walked over to him in the cold room and hugged his snow clad body.

"It snowed?" I jumped back grinning and ran outside. Sure enough their was a good two inches coating the ground. I went to step in the snow and drew my bare foot back on the porch when it came in contact with the frozen precipitation.

"Veronica put some clothes on before you catch hypothermia." He stepped out behind me and reached for my wrist. I took his hand in mine and stepped back through the front door. The fire in the wood stove had gone out, which allowed the house to cool off.

"You know how to rekindle a fire right?"

"No, I use the heater in my house, the fire place is just a decoration." It sounded rhetorical.
