As soon as I arrived home, my cousin Jin was waiting for me with hope in his eyes.
"Jungkook, did you meet Taehyung? What did he say? How did he look? Is he glowing more than me?" he asked eagerly.
I shook my head tiredly and went to my bedroom, leaving him stunned.
"Hey, I'm talking to you," he shouted, following me.
"Listen, Hyung, I'm not going to direct Taehyung, and we're done," I said firmly, causing Jin to get angry with me.
I explained everything to him, but he wasn't listening. He kept pressuring me to sign the film, saying that if I missed this chance, Taehyung would ruin my career. I knew that we couldn't mess with stars who had big backgrounds, or our careers would vanish into thin air.
But I don't care. I lit a cigarette and didn't know what I would do if I couldn't direct a movie. I had never thought about leaving my career just because of a change in my plot. And I knew that Taehyung would have already ordered all the director associations not to hire me.
I looked at my phone and typed "Park Jimin" in the search bar. Tons of TikTok videos appeared on my screen. I watched a few, but I couldn't imagine him as my main lead, causing my heart to ache in pain and frustration.
"He's nothing without makeup and a flawless complexion," I thought to myself.
My thoughts were interrupted when I noticed Namjoon, Jin's husband. I threw the cigarette away out of respect for him.
He smiled and sat next to me. We were both silent, and Namjoon wasn't like Jin Hyung. He would always ask about my problem and give me his suggestions.
"So, spill the tea, Jungkook," he softly asked me, showing his dimples. I sighed and told him everything. He listened carefully and thought for a moment.
"So, you want to cast Hoseok as the main lead, but Taehyung wants you to cast a newbie?" he clarified.
"Yes," I replied.
"Tell me, Jungkook, do you want to direct the movie or not?" he asked.
"Yes, I do, but I don't want anyone to change my plot," I said firmly.
"Hmm, it seems like you're already stuck with your characters. But if you choose to stick with them, it will be a disaster. Look, Jungkook, in my opinion, the plot is more important than the characters. You know that the plot can make everything, not the characters. So pay attention to your plot, and think about it," he advised before leaving me alone.
Namjoon was right; the plot played a major role. Whoever acted in my movie didn't matter; at the end of the day, the audience wanted to watch a strong story.
I quickly dialed Taehyung's company number and informed them that I had accepted their offer.
I would never fall in love again until I found him.
