My heart stopped. I couldn't breathe. None of us moved, as if we're testing one another. I wanted to call Gavin, but he was still in the bedroom. Damn guy. It took a few seconds to compose my face to a serious one.
"What are you doing here?" I managed to say. My words were laced with venom but my heart was pumping fiercely in against my chest.
The guy studied me from head to toe, feeling satisfied. I was disgusted in so many ways, but I didnt want to show him the other side of me, the one thats scared and horrified.
"I came here for Gavin. But instead I see you," he eyed me, studying my face.
If I hadn't known the things he has done to girls, I would have passed him as a normal human being with a family to support. Well he does, its just his ways are different than others. By now I was behind the door, ready to slam it shut. The atmosphere was so awkward between us I couldn't stand it.
He knew this, putting his hand on the door, ready.
"He's not here," I stated, my eyes narrowing to his. On the inside, I hoped he wouldn't come out. He didn't, to my luck.
"Where did he go?"
I shrugged as if it was the most normal thing. He stayed quiet for a while. My face was red, though I'm not sure if it was from embarrassment it anger. I'm not the best liar around. It was evident on my face, and he knew it.
"I'll come by next time then," he slowly said," I'll see you next time Violet."
I didn't say goodbye. Neither did I move. I kept quiet as I watched him move away andvi knew this would not be the last time I saw him.
***
"Gavin!" I shouted through the bathroom door. What's taking him so long? Immediately after the tense meeting, I dashed to the bedroom, to find Gavin still in the bathroom. There was no sound of rushing water. What's he doing inside?
I knocked a second time and there was still no answer.
"Hey!" I called. Silence.
I was getting worried now. I sat on the bed, deciding on whether I should open the door. What if he fainted on the floor? I shook my head in disbelief. The room was engulfed in silence. The silence was deafening.
When I stood up on my feet, I heard te faintest moan from the toilet. That brought my feet scurrying to the toilet nd without any thought, I banged the door open.
When I opened. he was there lying on the floor. To my luck. He was wearing his shorts. However that wasn't my biggest worry. On the floor, there was a small pool of blood. His eyes was closed, his body was in a weird position, his body face down but his face was facing the side.
I rushed to his side immediately. "Gavin!"
"Omg what the shit just happened?" I shouted to no one, my panic rising. I tried to wake him up but he was still unconscious.
When I checked his pulse, it was still steady, which brought a sense of relief to my soul. I poked him to see any reaction buy he was still lying still.
"Just hang on Gavin, I'll call the ambulance," I reassured him, hoping he would answer me. But he didn't. I rushed out to the living room for a phone, and saw Gavin's.
My hand swooped in and furiously pressed the buttons on the phone, putting it to my ear. The call was immediately picked and I rushed through my words, not making any sense.
"Calm down miss," the nurse said from the other side of the phone. Her voice calmed me for a second. I walled back to the bathroom to check on Gavin. He was still there, with the blood seeping out from his head.
I told the news again, not leaving any detail. How Gavin had been talking too long in the toilet, causing me to barge in through the door. I found him on the bathroom tiles with his head bleeding. When I looked closer there were blood stains on the toilet seat and I told her that too. It was as if I was filing in an investigation.
The nurse asked for my address and I quickly told her. The conversation ended and I painstakingly waited for the ambulance, my ears alert for any wailing siren. I checked on Gavin between intervals to know he was still alive. That was my only reassurane at the time.
Soon enough, the ambulance came and without hesitation both Gavin and I were brought to the hospital. I felt like a statue the whole time, with no feelings, no emotion. It wasn't until when the doctors took him out of my sight did I bawled my eyes out. I was alone in the waiting area, crying non stop. I didn't brother to go home. I only took breaks to the toilet and on some occasion bought snacks for when my stomach growled like a lion. Even then I would only take one or two bites and continue crying again.
The next day passed and I was told that Gavin was okay. He had a minor fracture on his skull, due to him slipping on the floor and his head hitting the toilet seat. He was alive and well, but I couldn't see him yet.
Knowing that he was better now, my head felt lighter and my body was able to function better. I came home to the apartment for once to wash myself up.
After that I was told that visitors were allowed to meet Gavin. I was pleased. I get to see him again.
I didn't know it would be my last.
***
I rushed through my journey to the hospital, ecstatic to see him. However, when I reached his ward, it wasn't the situation I expected.
When I came, there were police officers. Even Sasha, Jace, Ivy and their step father was there. I stopped short, my eyes widened.
Even my dad was there.
"Violet!" My father shouted and engulfed me in a tight hug. I stood still, not understanding the situation.
My eyes landed on Gavin, and he was still sound asleep with a bandaged round his heas.
I looked at Sasha and saw her red bloodshot eyes, showing that she's being crying. The police officer was talking to their step dad, the other one went to my dad and me.
"What's happening? I don't understand," I said quietly, my eyes facing the officer, but I was asking no one.
I released myself from my father's embrace. Immediately I was whisked out of the room.
"I've finally got you back Violet. It's so good to have you back," my father said again. The officer kept quiet but he was giving me a genuine smile.
The my head clicked. I was kidnapped for goodness sake. And now I'm saved. My heart stilled and I could feel my eyes water again.
"No..." I whispered to myself.
I looked up to the ward. There was a glass window that helped me oversee the situation inside.
His stepfather was continuing his conversation with the officer, his face hard and serious. Jace was looking the floor, his face unreadable at this point. Ivy had also been crying, due to her bloodshot eyes. It was Sasha' s face that confirmed my suspicion.
Before, she had a frown on her face, her eyes still watery. Her eyes were still the same now but she smirked instead of frowned.
I couldn't help but feel my anger boil inside of me.
