Violet's POV
When I arrived at the place, I couldn't get out of the car. Doubt started to creep in as I tried to take in deep breaths. I'm too nervous. And too anxious. What if it's a trap? What if it isn't my mother?
The diner was well lit enough for me to observe the people inside and I couldn't see any middle-aged women. Just a few young adults hanging out. Silence filled the inside the car and I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself down.
"This is crazy," I muttered as I let out a deep sigh.
When I opened my eyes, I saw her.
Blonde hair and wearing leather jacket, coming out of the car and walking towards the dinner. I was awe struck as my eyes never left her. She took a seat at the corner and called one of the waitresses. Right, this is my time to go to her. But I was glued to my chair. Instead I grabbed my phone and punched in the numbers again. Whilst it was ringing, I observed the lady. She was still talking to one of the waitresses, not picking up any phone. I waited for a few more seconds. Still nothing.
"Not her," I said dejectedly. I turned off the call. I was about to turn on the engine to drive away until I heard my phone vibrating. Immediately, I looked up to the same woman and there was holding a phone to her ear. I couldn't hold back my tears as I accepted the call, trembling from both anticipation and fear.
"Hello? Violet?" the woman asked.
"I thought you were dead," I whispered.
"I'm Violet, and I miss you so much. Where are you? Are you safe?"
"Then why did you leave me?" I whimpered, barely able to voice that out. I wasn't sure if she heard what I said.
"Vi, I need you to be here okay? I will explain everything. I just need you here with me so you can be safe."
You left me with father. My life was ruined because of you. My sadness turned to anger. She wasn't my mother. How could she, when she had left me alone with father, who barely acknowledged me and who allegedly sold me off to another guy. She can't be mom. If she is, my life is truly fucked.
"Violet, please come quick. I promise I'm not lying," the woman said with her face in her hands.
I finally got out of the car and stomped towards the diner. There was really nothing else for me to lose here. She was alone. I can handle her if she was lying. I've been in fights before.
"Violet? Are you there?" she said through the phone.
I slammed the door open and walked towards her. There was faint music playing in the background and the diner smelled like grease. She noticed me walking towards her and was completely shocked. At once she stood up and took a few paces to the front and we were both immediately facing each other. In a split second, my anger vanished.
She had the same violet eyes as mine.
"Mom?" I whimpered as she came in and hugged me. Emotions were going haywire as I slowly hugged her back.
"I can't believe you're alive," I cried.
"I can't believe you are alive, baby girl," she said in soothing voice as she pulled away to look at my face. "It's really you," she smiled, tears pouring down her face.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused.
"I spent all these years thinking you were gone. Does your he know you are here?"
"Who? Father?"
"He's not your father. I have so much to explain to you," she said, smiling through her tears.
"What? I stole his car to get here. He will probably try to find me. He was with someone when I left the house. What's wrong? What shall we do?" I asked in panic, realizing that I had just stolen a stranger's car.
"We need to go now," she said in panic. Her mannerism changed as she fixed her jacket. She told the waitress to get her drink on the go.
"Your father is not your real father. I had you with another man, but I was married to him. We just need to get out now and get to the police. He's with another man, right? Was that man coming for you?" she asked me in deadpan tone.
"He was before. Wait, how do you know?" I asked in awe.
"I swear to god I'm going to kill him," she said to herself. She turned to me.
"I'm sorry you had to go through all of this alone. But I promise I'm here and I will keep you safe. We need to go to the police now and settle everything. He might have his car tracked here. We need to hurry," she said but almost stopped herself from saying more. She looked sadly at me, as if guilty for not being present in my life.
"Do you trust me, Vi?" she asked me, hoping for me to say yes and no at the same time.
"I do mom," I cried as I hugged her. We briefly hugged and quickly focused on getting out of there. My mom took her drink and I followed her to the car. My heart was thumping so loudly. This was such a dangerous situation, but I knew deep inside that I could trust her. We got into her car and I looked around to see if 'father' was here. It was dark and I saw headlights approaching the diner. Oh shit.
"We gotta go, mom. That might be them," I said irrationally, because I took their only form of transport from the house. My mom was trying to turn on the engine.
"Mother of God the only time I need you hurry up and goddamn work," mom exasperated in a frustrated tone, slamming the wheel.
My eyes were locked onto the car, desperate to see who was inside. The parked in front of us, not turning off the engine so the headlights clouded my vision. It was hard to see in the car. I suddenly felt so scared.
"Mom, let's go!" I shouted.
Slowly, the lights became dimmer and I saw another woman that faintly looked familiar. The girl fixed her hair and turned towards the boy beside her, giving him a peck on the cheek. He was looking down on his phone, looking sad and not really reacting to the kiss. She grabbed his chin and kissed him on the lips, and he kissed her back a bit. Mom's engine finally started, and she looked up to the car in front of us.
"They really gave us a shock. God kids nowadays."
I kept quiet, feeling disgusted as I looked at the couple whilst mom drove away. I quickly turned to the front, trying to think about the situation and not that I had just witnessed Gavin and Sasha kissing right in front of me.
Gavin's POV
We arrived at the diner. I still felt sick, but I needed food. I finally got out of the hospital, but my memory was still blurry. I couldn't remember much. In fact, I couldn't remember a lot of things. I felt Sasha kiss me on the cheek, but I was still looking down on my phone, trying to remember things. Sasha was nice to help me all this while, even though we were strangers. She suddenly turned my head towards her and planted a kiss on my lips, and I slowly kissed her back. It lasted for a few seconds until I felt the lights turn on from the car in front of us. The car started driving away. I slapped Sasha on the face after I realised what she was trying to do.
"Are you crazy?! We're siblings," I shouted in disgust," I know who you are now. How dare you take advantage of me."
She rolled her eyes," at least I tried. Also, we're step-siblings."
She kept talking but I was looked at the car that was driving off, and around the car park to see if anyone had just witnessed us kissing, hoping that they didn't know us.
