Chapter 13

I woke up early the next morning, my stomach grumbling. I stretched my arms as I made my way to the kitchen. A note was left on the kitchen counter. I picked it up and read it.

I'm going back home. Gavin will be here soon. Help yourself with breakfast.

I wasn't sure whether the happiness bubbling inside of me was because Jace was gone or either Gavin was coming back. I put back the paper to its original spot and rummaged through the drawers for any food. At last, I found some bread and spread peanut butter over it. I made a few and sauntered my way to the living room, turned on the television and quietly watched a talk show programme while munching down my bread.

A few minutes later, the sound of the door unlocking was heard. I didn't bother to open the door, even when my heart was beating wildly against my chest at the thought of Gavin being here. The thought of having a crush on Gavin, my kidnapper, was very overwhelming. However, I went ahead and just let the emotion flow within me, seeing where it was going to lead me.

I calmed myself down as the door opened, followed by footsteps.

"Ever heard of knocking the door?" I asked, not turning my head around.

"It's my apartment; I can do whatever I want to," he countered, putting his keys on the dining table and making his way to the sofa, slumping to the sofa," seems you've made yourself pretty comfortable."

I nodded my head and turned towards him. A purple bruised surrounded his left eye, as well as a sharp line that went across his cheek. I gasped came quickly to his aid.

"What happened?" I asked, my eyes focused on the injuries, not caring about how close I was to him.

"It's nothing really. After you left I got punished by my dad for hosting such a party."

I furrowed my eyebrows at this," You didn't host it, Sasha did."

"Yeah but I was the eldest, so I was most responsible. Plus, Sasha got beaten up by someone else, so I got extra punished for that," he winked at me when he said that.

Shame tightened my throat as I knew he was talking about me. Guilt rode my back as realization hit me; I was the one that caused Gavin to be like this. He cut me off when I was about to apologize.

"It's not your fault though. And don't bother fighting with me about it."

"Alright. I'm going to get some medicine for that eye of yours," I announced, while heading my way to the kitchen.

"It's the third drawer form the extreme left!" he called from the living room.

"Got it," I took the first aid kit and brought it to the living room. I took some cream and applied on to his eyelid. He winced for a moment, then kept quiet until I finished.

"Thanks."

I nodded my head as a reply. He continued speaking," I can't believe this."

"What?" I asked in confusion.

"We. We're acting so normal, as if all the kidnapping and shit didn't happen at all."

I smiled," I don't think so, half the time with you I'm screaming or fighting back to go home."

He chuckled at my answer and I could feel a sensation erupted in my stomach. Was it butterflies? God what's happening to me?

"True that, but that was because you didn't find out the truth. After you did, you were more...relaxed," he trailed off. We both looked at each other for a moment and burst out laughing, knowing what he said was a big lie.
