ALEIYA watched as the lab assistants injected the sharp needle into her arm and flinched at the pain. she should be used to this by now since it had been happening all her life but it was still painful."very good, you did better than last time" the voice of none other than eric sacks boomed in the room as he entered and walked over to where aleiya was.
as the scientist took the needle over to the test tube and examined it, aleiya looked down and sighed.
"yea well i guess i gotta get used to it some day" aleiya said as she looked out the window. she hated seeing all the kids playing outside, enjoying their lives while she couldn't because of this stupid ass sickness.
"do you think i'll ever get out of here?" aleiya now looked at sacks, who looked down to the blood that was drawn form aleiya and shook his head.
"not anytime soon"
aleiya nodded and looked down, sadness filling her body. why couldn't she have a normal life? why did she have to live like this? why her?!
"hey kid, don't be so sad" sacks said as he sat in front of the lab bed. "at least you aren't dead"
aleiya looked at sacks. "was that supposed to be helpful?"
"look i know you don't like being in here but we're doing all we can to make sure you stay alive and healthy" sacks starts, then looking down at his phone which was buzzing with emails. "i have to go now, your blood testing will be over soon" sacks finished as he exited the room.
aleiya looked outside the window once more, this time thinking about her parents. they had died in a car crash when she was only five years old, it was actually her first day of kindergarten. aleiya waited for them to pick her up after school but they never came.
aleiya was then in and out of adoption centers looking for a good home, but never found one. that was until she met eric sacks, he took her under his wing and basically adopted her.
and then she was diagnosed with this sickness that was incurable. surgery after surgery, test after test and many new medicines but nothing seemed to work.
although sacks said this was a very serious and dangerous illness aleiya didn't feel sick. she actually felt fine and normal but sacks only told her that was apart of this tragic disease.
so now, ten years later aleiya is now fifteen years old and lives in this lab, trying to get cured.
aleiya turned her head and looked over all the different color test tubes which contained different types of chemicals, medicines and substances. she looked at the monitors and cameras, something she was used to living with.
as aleiya reached for the remote to turn on the tv she felt a sharp pain in her right wrist causing her to drop the remote and hiss in pain, she looked at her arm and saw her veins popping out but they were an odd red color, was this the sickness? was she just now feeling the symptoms?
"shit" aleiya whispered as the pain worsened, she reached for the pain killers that one of the nurses provided for her even though she had never used them before, they finally had use.
aleiya took the right amount of pills and drank the bottled water from the side of her bed. a few seconds went by and the pain went down just barley.
now minutes went by and she could still feel a throbbing in her wrist but it wasn't as painful as it had previously been so she reached to grab the remote on the floor and went about what she thought was a normal daily routine.
but little did aleiya know, this was much more than an illness.
