Jennie
We began with dinner. I looked at the full plate of meal on the table before me. They served starters in the beginning, some fancy shrimp dish with avocado and cucumber, and caviar eggs, which was followed by duck slices in cherry sauce or something.
I gobbled the food like I was on death row and this was my last meal. I even licked the cherry sauce off the plate, so much for pretending to be like a lady. From the corner of my eye, I noticed how Nichkhun regarded me with interest. The corners of his mouth twitched upward. Between chewing and taking quick bites, I choked on my wine.
Sorn laughed, "Slow down. The food won't disappear."
"She eats like Love." A small voice said.
I looked in the voice's direction. I hadn't even noticed the little child sitting two chairs down from me. The child looked identical to his older siblings, and there was a certain sadness in his sea-green eyes, like the kid had seen a lot of unspeakable things, and he was staring at me as if he could look into my soul.
"Who is Love?" I asked.
"Our dog, he's a Dobermann."
I coughed, while trying not to feel insulted, because clearly, the child wasn't trying to be disrespectful and only stating what he'd observed. Did all the younger Manobans swore that they would slander me as soon as I stepped foot into this mansion?
"Those toy trains I saw earlier this afternoon, do you like them too?" I pointed out, while smiling at him regardless of being called a hungry dog.
He looked at me like I'd fallen off the rocker. "Hell no. Only Lisa likes them because she is a big baby. I am Lucas. Lisa is over there!" He pointed in the other direction. I turned towards where his finger pointed and my fork almost slipped out of my hand.
Lisa really wasn't a kid. She wasn't even a teenager. Not by a long shot. Either that or I needed a pair of glasses because this was an adult sitting at the end of the table. A freaking adult who needed a nanny.
She had wavy sable hair neatly combed, and striking aquiline features that consisted of a straight nose and an angular jawline, and eyes the colour of the crème brûlée that I was having for dessert.
If the princes and princesses in Disney movies were all real, they'd look like Lisa. She was definitely better looking than Nichkhun, and I wasn't even exaggerating. Nichkhun was all charming and easy to talk to, while Lisa appeared to be a complete opposite of her brother in every way. There was a certain darkness masked under her golden features, and she sparked off a very mysterious aura.
