Jennie

Lisa was insatiable. We made love two more times that night before we fell asleep at dawn in a tangled mess. Lisa's left leg was pushed against my body in a possessive way. That unfamiliar glint in her eyes had faded, and the old Lisa had taken charge, and that was the strangest part of the night. I wondered if I'd imagined it.

My brain hadn't conjured up her whispering 'Jennie' in her deep husky voice that it still gave me the tingles and a bunch of butterflies took flight in my stomach as I kept rewinding that moment in my head like a tape.

There was a brief knock on the door and before I could even answer it, Jessi swiftly entered the room. I was embarrassed by my lack of clothing, and honestly, it was a little uncomfortable about being promoted from employee and thrust headfirst into the seat of the mistress of the Manoban household. I used to be one of them, and now I am not anymore.

Mrs. Jennie Ruby Jane Manoban.

The name does have a nice ring to it.

She didn't even look up as she wheeled the breakfast table in, bowed, and left the room promptly. I guessed that was the routine since the time Lisa slept here alone. Now that I was going to share the room, nothing was going to change.

I had to wake her up and force her into the bathroom because she would rather stay naked and in bed than get on with the day's activities.

After her bath, she sat on the bed while I stood between her legs and combed the tangles through her thick, and wet hair. Even though I was her wife now, my duties remained the same. I wouldn't let anyone else do this because I loved every second of it. She watched me intently. Her light brown eyes glimmered in the sunlight that streamed through the window. There was something so intimate about the moment, in the comfortable silence of companionship.

Lisa's hand slipped slowly into my bathrobe and caught one breast in her hand. I laughed, "Can you please stop? I'm trying to concentrate on your hair." But she wasn't listening. She circled my nipple, and with a possessive tug on my waist, she covered her wet, hot mouth over it.

The comb just slipped out of my hand, and my fingers replaced where her comb had been, making a mess of all the tangles that I'd just removed. "Lisa..."

She lapped and suckled like she'd die if she didn't do so, and moisture pooled between my legs. I cupped her face and her mouth met mine in a soul-sucking kiss.

We were breathless a few minutes later and staring hard at each other. "What happened to you last night?"

"What happened?" She repeated.

I bit my lip. Should I ask her or should I let it go?

"You called me Jennie." I said.

"I did?" She asked me, with her brows furrowed in confusion.

I watched her expressions to see if she was being honest or lying and I could only see sincerity in them. I wondered if Lisa was a talented actor and I was curious to find out.

"Yes." I kissed her cheek.

"What did I say?" She asked, while not breaking eye-contact.

I could have sworn that I'd seen a glimpse of the old Lisa last night, the Lisa that had all her memories intact and who knew far more dark secrets than she was letting on. The Lisa that was dangerous and calculative, who had been running the entire Manoban empire. That person who had excited and frightened me in equal measures. While I hoped that Lisa's memories came back, I was also scared of the consequences. Somewhere deep down, I wondered if I really wanted to awaken the old Lisa.

What if the old her was like Nichkhun?

"You have to remember it yourself, Lisa. I won't tell you anything."

"Jen, I have something for you." She said as she reached across from me towards the bedside table and pulled out her wallet from the drawer. From inside, she took out a credit card and handed it over to me.

"What's this for?" I inquired. The black card had her name inscribed on it.

Lalisa Pranpriya Manoban.

I ran my fingers over her name.

"I remember you told me that..." she paused, "... you told me once that you have never bought anything nice for yourself because your Uncle Jiyong used to take most of your money. I... I want to give you everything, Jen. Everything. You deserve it. I'll give you this card that I rarely use... you can buy stuff that you want."

My eyes were brimming with unshed tears and that made her worry, "Why are you crying? Did I say something wrong?"

I sniffled, while wiping my face with the back of my hand. "I have what I need. I got what I wanted." I assured her as I pressed the credit card back into her hand.

"What's that?"

"You."

She liked that answer because I was rewarded with a heart-melting grin. "I was already yours... the day you stepped into the house. Buy something nice for yourself, Jen."

I sighed, "I can't go out of the house without permission, Lisa, and you already know that. Nichkhun wouldn't allow it."

"But I'm your spouse!"

I giggled, "That you are, but even if we're married, I don't know if I'm allowed outside and look..." I pointed at the anklet, "If I went too far from the property, the sensor will blink and Nichkhun will know where to find me."

Lisa stared at me. "I'll tell you a secret. The anklet notifies for only about thirty minutes when you're in town... and... when you drive out of town, it cannot trace the location."

Whoa!

"So what you're saying is that we have to sneak out and hope that Nichkhun won't notice until we're far enough?"

She nodded.

I smiled, "I know how you feel, Lisa, but I don't want to risk it. Besides, I can let Jackson know whatever I need and he will deliver it to me."

She picked my hand and kissed each knuckle. "One of these days... Jen... I'm going to take you out of here."
