Chapter 17

Don't fall weak! Don't fall weak!

You're much stronger than this Samaira. You can do it. Don't run from your life. You'll only learn from facing your problems.

Think about your happiness and loving future with Vikram. Don't fall weak! Stay strong for him.

"Hi!...Jas."

He stood before me with a very friendly smile. He was wearing a crispy white button up with a skinny black tie and black dress pants. I guess he was also on his lunch break but their office was no one nearby here.

"How are you?"

Why is he being nice to me?

I understand that he might have been friendly at Navs wedding because we had people presence around us. At second encounter, I was too drunk and I'm positive he was also too drunk to understand or remember anything.

"I'm good. Thanks! Just on my lunch break. And yourself?" I was frightened to talk to him and thought I would fall weak but I didn't. I was standing confident and felt strong. This is what Vikram turned me into. Vikram made me this strong woman.

The thought of Vikram made me smile and Jas look that as a gesture to invite me to lunch.

"I've been better. Also on my lunch break. Would you care to take a walk around the pier?"

I shouldn't. I told Vikram I was going to see Nav. I really did need to see Nav. It's been ages. Seeing Jas was also not a good idea for me. I did feel strong and confident now but what would happen if he brings up something from our past. What if he brings up what happened between us?

He doesn't know if my lunch break just started. I could just lie and say my break is ending. I could go see Nav to talk about this and everything would be fine.

"Sure. I'll tag along." And we walked out of the Starbucks together.

I was disappointed at my choice of actions. I knew I shouldn't have agreed to go out for lunch with him but, the words just slipped out of my mouth and my heart didn't seem to mind.

The pier was right along the street. Barely a 5 min walk. We sat on a bench facing the waterfront The sight was gorgeous and peaceful. My mind slipped of many worries to stay in the moment. The water was clear blue with a few small boats. The large ferry wouldn't be taking off for a while now. The sky was clear with little sun. It was a beautiful day in my opinion. I was soon lost in the horizon of the water.

I was lost in my own thoughts when I reminded myself the Jas was here too.

"Oh sorry! I was distracted by the view."

"It's alright! You looked peaceful. I didn't want to distract you. You look beautiful."

"Thank you. What are you doing on this side of the city?" I said before bringing the coffee cup in contact with my lips.

"I had a meeting here that will last my all day. A new project. You don't work for Dhillon anymore?"

"No! I actually just recently joined Interior as a new consultant."

"Oh, that's quite interesting!" One of the boats let out a big horn sound. "Wow! I've seen you since Jeet's wedding. We really didn't get a minute to talk to each other. While, unless you count our drunk conversation."

My eyes were stun open.

"OH MY GOD! You remember that conversation?"

"Yea, don't you?"
