I had woken up to an exhaustion feeling. My eyes were barely opening. My head was pounding. My stomach ached with pain. It wasn't a feeling I was used too. I slowly opened my eyes to witness a dark room.
This wasn't a hotel room. It felt more comfortable than a hotel room. I looked around the room. There was a love seat sofa, a small coffee table, a dresser and a large bookshelf. There a picture hung on the wall beside the bookshelf. It was an older woman. She looked beautiful with the twinkle in her eye and friendly smile. Not anyone I could recognize but awfully familiar.
I tried to sit up but, the physical pain in my body shot up to ache when I moved. I groaned in pain and gave up trying to sit. With that try, my hair had fallen in front of my face. I slowly raised my hand to my face so I could push my hair back.
Why was my wrist wrapped in a bandage?
I looked down at my wrist with serious confusion.
I couldn't remember what happened or why I was here.
I felt an agonizing pain in my head. And with that, I let out a little cry for help.
The pain was surging in my body and my eyes were losing the faculty of sight.
I heard someone enter the room and calling out for me.
"Are you okay, Samaira?"
"My head! Urg. Everything hurts." I cried.
My body was suddenly shaking and I was losing the ability to move my arms.
"Samaira, take this pill." I heard the person say while putting a pill in my mouth. I was also given some water.
I was starting to lose consciousness.
--
When I regained consciousness, I could remember the events before I had fainted. I slowly opened my eyes and sat upwards. I wasp feeling a lot better from the last time I tried to get up. My body was still in pain but, the pain was slowly fading away.
The curtains were now open and sunshine had lightened the room. There was a glass of water and a box of tissues on the side table.
I tried my best to jog my memory of how I got here. Last I remember I was at the book conference in place of Kavya. And then everything was a big blur.
OH SHIT! KAVYA!
She's probably waiting for me at the shop. Wait. I looked around the room trying to find a clock.
"Why does this room have no clock?" I whispered while smacking my hand on my head.
Who's room was this? And where am I? Who's the person that helped me?
"Umm..Hello? Anyone here?"
No one answered back. I got out of bed and found a bathroom to freshen up. I was still wearing the outfit from last night.
Once I was done, I came back to the room but, there was still no sign of anyone. I figured I should head downstairs and try to find a way to get home.
I walked out the room that I had slept in. The hallway was small yet well designed. There were four other doors connecting to the hall and a fairly large staircase that lead you to the main floor.
Struggling to stand on my body weight, I had managed to come halfway down the stairs. The pain in my body was growing with each step I took but, I had to find a way back to Kavya. I took a look around the house, still standing on the stairs. The house was of reasonable size with a family room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and walk out to the backyard all on the main floor.
