Lizzie POV
"In the tunnel far below
Where the warrior and forgotten snow
Had a fight which caused a blow
That led to the Underland we now all know"That was all of our clue that I was able to let our before having to go back to training. It went by pretty quick. Ripred tested my echolocation a lot more this time but we were done 15 minutes tops. Apparently that wasn't a lot of time because Hazard and Gregor were no where to be seen. From what Ripred had told me we were late for lunch. Now their disappearance wasn't so surprising. Or that least that's what I thought.
"Do you know where they are?" Luxa spat out before we could even land in the High hall.
"Where who is?" I asked.
"Gregor and Hazard. They were training with you, weren't they?"
"They we're watching but they left around the time lunch began," Ripred told her.
"No one saw them," Luxa said.
Then it clicked. What the clue was saying. Gregor had told me about what had happened. There was a series of abandoned caves below the palace. 6 years ago Gregor took echolocation lessons right there with Ripred. That was Gregor's first encounter with the bane since her was a baby. Forgotten snow. The bane had attacked him because he was scared or wanted to avenge his dad or something. Fight that caused a blow. That fight led to the initial war that created the peace between rats and humans.
"Oh no, what are they doing," I gasped before racing toward the nearest stairwell. What was I doing anyways. There was nothing I could do to help. Even with my bow and arrow I'm probably the most vulnerable out of all of us.
"Hey where are you going!" Ripred yelled after me. I ignored all the yells that I heard going after me and kept going down the multiple stairs. Then I found my self on the hospital floor. The whole place was white in doctors in uniform whiteness. And I saw Howard. Who always seemed to be there when you needed him.
"Hey I can't talk right now. Where is are the stairs?" I asked.
"Behind you?" Howard replied genuinely confused.
"No the other ones," I said hurriedly.
"Oh, follow me," he said.
I went down what looked like an abandoned part of the hospital to a stairwell. "Thanks," I got out quickly before racing down the stairs. I found myself at the lowest floor on the palace. Down a short hallway there was a heavy stone door. The bolts were open. Someone was obviously there recently. Great. How am I supposed to open this alone, I thought.
I pulled hard in the rusty door handle. It was shut tight but lightly enough to run away quickly. I got it opened and the sight in front of me made me wish I didn't have echolocation.
Sorry for the short chapter.
