Here he was. More than half an hour after the scheduled training time watching the set up a bunch on catapults loaded with multicoloured plastic balls. All because Lizzie hit five targets. Apparently this was a huge deal for them because had so little people talented in archery and far distance attacks would be a huge benefit to them. Gregor reckoned this was the most efficient way they could set up moving targets without getting any bats hurt. Lizzie was now standing in the middle of the mess with 20 arrows to hit 20 targets. She held her bow up, facing the roof of the arena, rotating on her heel, anticipating where the first arrow would go. The first plastic ball flew out and was hit almost immediately by Lizzie. Another followed right after as Lizzie loaded the second arrow. And she just kept going until they were all done. Overall she missed two shots but the other 18 were enough to keep the arena in silence when she finished.
Lizzie, being Lizzie, assumed she did something wrong. "What did I do?" She asked coming up to Gregor.
"Nothing baby," he said hugging her. He was shook as well. He had never actually seen her do archery. "They're just impressed that's all."
"Wow, wow, wow," Ripred said slowly, walking out of the shadows. "So is this a family thing? Being chronically good at something."
"Shut up Ripred."
"She is good," Luxa said. "I, my would be considered one of the best in Regalia but I have only ever hit 10."
"It's really not that big of a deal," Lizzie whispered. She hated this kind of attention.
"Well, let's get to the point. I'm here to tell you all that the arena is closed until after the wedding. Actually you're both supposed to be here now while we start set up," Ripred said. "Take a walk while we clean up. Clear your heads."
Lizzie and Boots headed back up to the palace while Gregor and Luxa walked together in the caves around the arena.
"What's going on between you and Hazard?" she asked coldly as soon as they were out of earshot.
"What do you mean?" Gregor asked.
"Why you both being so secretive around me. You always rush off before I can even get a chance to talk to you," she said with a pant of annoyance in her voice.
"I'm sorry we made you feel like that but there's nothing going on. Hazard just thinks we need more of a ... connection. That's all."
They stopped at the dead end and turned to head back to the arena.
Luxa seem to pick her next words carefully. "I don't believe you. You both know something."
She stopped it there as they were hit with the firelight of the arena. They had cleared it up pretty quickly. By the time they got to the corner they left Ripred, Hazard, Tetris, Howard and Pandora had shown up.
"Ok. I'm in charge as usual. Luxa that means you listen to what I say. The other group is rolling out the tables right now. Our job is getting all the up high decorations done. Four of you will go to the East side and the other four to the West," Ripred explained.
Gregor could see both Hazard and Luxa trying to get to him. "Do you want to go together?" he asked Howard not wanting part in why was about to happen. They went to one of the storage rooms on the side to receive a box of streamers they were to hang on the wall.
"Hello brother," a high pitched voice said as they were about to mount up. Gregor didn't dare turn around. Even after 5 years he could recognise the sickingly sweet manipulative sound of her voice.
Stellovet.
