They somehow found a way to disappear within two minutes of being unsupervised.

"Where are they now?" Ripred asked obviously frustrated.

"Do we really want to know?" Artemis said with what Gregor assumed was a smirk.

"Look in the surrounding trees. They can't be far and Hazard knows his way back," Howard said.

"Spread out everyone. We have to find them and get rolling," Ripred said.

Everyone spread out like he said and checked the surrounding trees. Gregor went into an area directly opposite of the boat they were in and went through the vines. He stepped around blindly, trying not to disturb and animals or plants around him. He was about to give up, worried he was getting to far from others before he pushed his head through the last bunch of trees and found his face buried in long, soft, brown hair. Lizzie turned around so quickly, Gregor was barely able to dodge the blow she had aimed for him.

"Oh I'm sorry," she said after realising what she did.

"What are you guys doing? Everyone's looking for you let's go," he said. Gregor then stepped forward to see what Hazard was so carefully inspecting that he ignored Gregor's presence.

"Is that a possum?"

"Looks like one. Lizzie shot it down from the boat," Hazard replied. Then he stopped. "Let's go back."

"Do you want to tell the others? They should know that the species we're going to kill are running around the jungle," Lizzie said.

They both looked at Gregor indicating he should make the decision.

"Sure we could. Just not right now. We have to get going," with that he started leading us back to the clearing.

When they got back everyone had already given up looking for them.

"Where have you two been?!" Ripred raged, "Do you know how long this took us."

"Sorry Ripred. We thought we saw something," Hazard said taking the blame.

"Alright everyone. Get on your boats. We're leaving now."

Lizzie POV

Ten minutes later I was sitting on the boat beside Hazard already feeling like it's been a lifetime on this boat.

The trip just started. I kept telling myself. Meanwhile Hazard was beside me staring at a random spot on the floor of the boat. I don't know what's up with him now. Did I do something? Was he worried about last night's conversation or the possum. He was so unpredictable.

"Do you think it's been a coincidence?" Hazard asked.

I thought we were already through this. We have both agreed by now that we are fate so what is he talking about.

"The possums I mean," he said registering my confusion.

"Do you remember the day in the cave when we landed. We both heard something at the entrance. I have a feeling that was a possum. And under the palace too."

I put the clues Hazard was giving me together.

"You think they're following us?"

"I don't know. It only makes sense that way. Vikus did say they don't leave their homes."

I thought about it for a while. While Hazard was recovering a week back, we researched about possums in the Overland. The fact about them never leave their homes was true.

"Maybe. But then what? Are you planning to tell someone?"

"No. We should keep this between us. It won't matter anyways since we're going to kill them." Hazard said.

I silently agreed as he went to go get lunch ready. He came back about 5 minutes later with food for the both of us.

"Thanks," I said taking the food.

Hazard sat back down next to me considerably closer than he was before. Really close actually. As close as we were in the museum. But we were alone then. I couldn't help myself from blushing now.

We had nothing to talk about we sat and ate in silence.

Hazard suddenly turned to look at me and say something. The look in his eyes told me it was something he was holding back. But he instead said:

"I'll get us water."

I nodded and he came back with a small sack of water for us to share and handed it to me.

"Ripred says we should try to get sleep now if we can," he said while I drank. "We might be keeping watch tonight.

I agreed because I was tired anyways. Hazard sat next to me our shoulders touching and brushed my right fingers with his left.

I fell asleep with my head on his shoulder and his fingers intertwined in mine.
