Almost gave up on this book but I saw some of you liked the book so much that I just couldn't.

Thank you for helping me get back into writing again.

Hazard's POV

I woke up to Ripred tossing pieces of meat at me. I glared at him. He seemed satisfied and went back to sleep.

I looked down to my shoulder. Her slightly rose cheek was resting on it.

God, she was pretty.

I decided not to wake her up. Partly so I could keep watching her though.

I remember what Gregor asked me. About having feelings for her. At first I didn't think I did but now...

I grasped her hand tighter. It felt comforting. Like our hands were made to fit together.

It was our turn to keep watch for the night. I picked up a mini flashlight Gregor gave me and played around with it, watching the beam of light as it struck through the darkness and revealed the other wall of the boat.

Soon, Lizzie's rhythmic deep breaths became sharper as she woke up.

Her eyes fluttered open. She brought her hand up the her eyes. Rubbing them, she looked up at me.

"Are we keeping watch now?" Lizzie asked in a sleepy voice.

"Yes we are," I answered. "You can go back to sleep. I am okay doing it alone."

She shook her head. "I'll stay up. I can't leave you to do it alone."

She rested her head back ok my shoulder and stared into the darkness. The night was still. The water soothing, a calm splashing to it.

We stayed like that for a while, in silence. Then she spoke up.

"Did your dad know about this waterway entrance?" she asked me.

"I think he might have," I answered. That had never crossed my mind. "Even so, there would have been no reason or way for him to come exploring here."

My father had been adventurous but he still went about with logic.

"Makes sense," Lizzie murmured back. "It probably would have been to dangerous anyways."

As if she had summoned the supposed 'dangers', the boat's gentle swaying quickly evolved to an agressive rocking. As if we were being moved by something.

Lizzie sprung to her feet almost as quickly as I did. "You're felling that right?"

I replied with a nod. By the time the rocking was severe enough to worry about, everyone else had woken up from it.

"What is going on?" Luxa's voice rang into the air.

The rocking had gotten intense now; swinging the boats from side to side, the tips of the waves spraying them all. Ripred got up and started spitting commands.

"All of you get down! We don't need someone flying off the boat when we don't know what's going on i the water." He turned towards Gregor, who was totally ignoring Ripred's instructions, holding onto the edge the boat with iron hard grip, trying to see down below.

"And you, if you're so eager to see what's going on down there, fly down with your bond. And keep you guard up. You don't know how long it's arms may be."

The boat was getting tossed around so much I was surprised that we were somehow still holding on. I watched Gregor and Ares dive down into the water as I clutched the handle of the boat as hard as I can, still holding on to Lizzie's hand.

They quickly emerged from the water, a long fluorescent tentacle shooting after them. Ares was flying in a zigzag pattern, trying to get the malicious prodder off their tail. Gregor had both his sword and dagger out, ready to attack of it got too close.

Ares did a master manoeuvre, giving them a major advantage on the creature. With a slash of his sword, Gregor decapitated the creature. The half of the tentacle that was detached fell onto my boat with a thud. A glow blue liquid, similar to its outer colour, was seeping out of it.

I found myself frantically pushing myself deeper into the wall of the boat to get out of the reach of the ooze. Lizzie mirrored me and gripped my hand harder.

Meanwhile, the creature beneath us was more angered by Gregor's action and sent multiple of it arms at us.

"Howard, Hazard, start working on steering the boats away from here. Luxa get out there with your bond and join Gregor. The rest of you stay down and avoid the tentacles and pus as much as you can," Ripred said.

I gazed into Lizzie's eyes for a bit. I didn't want to leave her. I didn't want to steer the boat. I squeezed her hand a bit before leaving. I could see her lips pressed together, forming a tight line as she watched me leave.

I walked towards the raised platform where the boat's steering wheel was. I had to lean against the edge of the boat to avoid getting completely tossed by the harsh waves. That alone was physically challenging. Trying to avoid the shooting and dropping tentacles made it harder.

As I neared the platform I switched my support from being in the wall of the boat to the railing of the stairs leading up. I took one glance at Lizzie as I ascended the stairs. She looked the most scared I've ever seen her in the last month.

Oh how I wish I could be there with her right now.
