"I will kill them. Whole family. From old to unborn child. I swear."
Aswathama had vowed to avenge his father's brutal murder. His beloved father Dronacharya was killed by Dhrishtradhumna when he was in his meditation mode sitting beneath a tree. He then had been given wrong information about the death of his son Aswathama by Yudhhisthir. They tricked and decived his old trusting father who loved Pandava brothers as his own five sons.
"Aswathama Hato"
- Yuddhisthir claimed aloud.
"Iti Gazo"
- He murmured to himself.
Guru Drone left his arms and became a soft target of Dhrishtradhumna who beheaded him easily. It was not the work of a warrior to kill an unarmed man. But in the great fiercest war of Mahabharata it happened many times with many people. Avimanyu, Karna, Bhism, Drone and even with demon Ghatokatch. It was irony of fate that in the war of justice against injustice both sides took the help of injustice for winning.
At the end, Duryodhan was dying in extreme pain. His thigh was brutally smashed by Bhim. Due to his mother Gandhari's good deeds his body was iron but not his thighs. In the clear provocation of Lord Krishna Bhim smashed his thigh and sent him to the door of death.
"Mitra (friend), bring me the head of five Pandava brothers. I just want to smash their distorted head in my both hands. It's my final wish." Duryodhan requested to Aswathama.
His pleadings did not go unnoticed by Aswathama. He stood up and took the previously mentioned promise.
By leaving Duryodhan crying in pain in the protection of his army, he along with Kritaverma and Kripacharya went towards the tent of Pandava.
Panadava camp was very silent. All were sleeping peacefully as the war had been won by them. After many happy hours of rejoice they were now fast asleep. Only some guards were pacing upside down to give security.
Aswathama signalled his two friends who silently nodded their heads in unison. They understood the signal. Kritaverma went to the left and one by one killed all guards. Kripscharya charged from the right and done the same. Then they both signalled him to come out from his secret hiding place.
