Marriage of Bichitravijya

Ambika and Ambalika were now duly married to the King of Hastinapur as they did not have any objection for this marriage. But Amba had. She had declined Raj Mata Satyabati's kindest proposal to marry her son. She was not going to marry him. At any cost.

However the entire Hastinaputr state was in rejoicing mode for celebrating its young King's marriage. The masses were happy to get two very beautiful queens. Ambika and Ambalika were on the cloud nine. Their dreams of life came true. All were happy except two lonely souls. The main protagonists of our story. Bhism and Amba.

Bhism was in awe with his own heart. He never felt so helpless beforehand. It was not that he hated women but no women till now could draw him to herself like the firy Kashi Princess. In this fortnight she was residing in total seclusion without even meeting with anyone. She did not even meet with her happy sisters. She had shunned by every happiness of life. She never set her foot out of her room. He roamed around her room several times a day but was afraid to enter into it. It was improper to enter into a girl's room without her permission. He even tried hard to notice her beautiful face at the dawn and sunset. She always came to her windowpane at both of these times a day. She looked ill and pale. She even stopped wearing any ornament or jewelry nowadays and looked like a "yogin" (nun) to him. He could not bear to see her distressed face anymore. He decided to talk to his stepmother Satyabati for her sake.

In the meantime, Amba was not aloof a bit. She was preparing for her next mission. She had sent a message to her father in secret by the help of her sister's pigeon, Soumak. She received the answer from her father too. She knew the political spectrum of India from her father. Saurashtra, Madra and Karnat these three kings were planning hard to declare war against Hastinapur. Kashi was also their ally. They all were plotting a revenge from Hastinapur. But the only obstacle in their road was the single person. The fiercely powerful Commander in general and protective brother of the King Bichitravirjya. Bhism.

Amba loathed the man. She hated him from the core of her heart. She was satisfied that her aassualter Shalva was defeated completely. But what about Bhism?!! He assaulted them in open public, ruined the reputation of her father and captivated the three of them like animals against their own consent. It was true that she provoked him by sending a letter but it was for the sake of her foolish sisters, instead of her own. She knew her destiny. Even if he resembled her husband from her last birth but she knew now that he was a different man who was indifferent to her. But she was truly wrong. He was neither indifferent to her nor distant from her. He was also fighting with his own battle like her.

Story Unfolds :

Ambika and Ambalika revealed the truth to their mother-in-law that their sister was in love with Madra Naresh Shalva. The above reaction was her at that time.

"Then why don't we free her, Mate (mother)?!!" Bhism entered and threw the question to Satyabati.

She lifted her green eyes to her dear stepson. She knew that Bhism was right. They had no such intention to capture Amba in this way. If she was not in favor of marrying her son, then be it.

With a heavy sigh Raj Mata Satyabati uttered confidently -

"Okay, son. As you wish. She is not worthy to be the daughter-in-law of the great Kuru Vansha. Let her go to her lover. It is a disgrace for us if we captivate her even after knowing the truth. Isn't it?" Then she looked slowly to Bhism who also nodded his head in agreement.

In her mind, she was relieved. This girl could challenge her command and control over her sons. She could never allow her to enter into her own family. She failed to notice that her stepson was staring hard at her face.

Bhism, on the contrary, knew it too perfectly that only Amba, the eldest daughter of Kashya Ambikesh, had all the qualities to be a great queen of his Hastinapur. She had a fire inside her. She thought for her people. Unless she could refuse to come with him. Being a warrrior Princess it was not a bit impossible for her to draw her sword on him. Amba was a great warrior herself. History did not remember her this side. Chitrangada was praised as a warrior princess. But long before her time firy and fiesty Amba was the greatest warrior princess of India. She was unlike her gullible twin sisters.

He sighed hard too and folded his hands in front of her. "Thank you so much, Mate. I hope you will yourself declare that in the royal court of Hastinapur tomorrow."

Satyabati closed her eyes tightly and then when she opened them they looked full of determination. She had travelled a long road as the Queen Mother or Raj Mata. She was not the same low caste girl played under the influence of her husband anymore. As the Raj Mata her decision seemed now final in her state.

"I will, son. I will. Don't worry. I will free her from bondage." She promised Bhism. And yes she kept her promise.
...

"Do you enjoy the show?!!" Lord Shiva asked that to his wife.

Mata Parvati had responded to him firmly. "of course, why not me?!! After all I am your half. I mean better half. Your Ardhangini. What will you enjoy, I will enjoy it too."
