chapter thirty nine- the aftermath

I was slowly walking home by myself marinette decided to go do some shopping for my parents tears were forming in my eyes as I looked down at the few cuts I had on my arms I was bloody exhausted once I saw my house I dragged my feet towards the front door I knocked on it hoping someone would answer finally my dad answered it I didn't say a word to him after what he did to peter the only thing I wanted to do was walk in and go upstairs to rest but he stopped me by mumbling angrily

'get in the living room me and your mother are very disappointed with you'

I sighed before plodding into the living room silently and sitting down on the couch the first thing I knew was my mom screaming in my face

'HOW DARE YOU GO OUT THERE BY YOURSELF TO SAVE A HERO THAT WAS YOUR STUPID BOYFRIEND AND ALSO YOU'VE HURT YOUR FATHER AND GOT HIM FIRED FROM HIS JOB THAT'S IMPORTANT DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY TO YOURSELF ABOUT THAT STUPID ACT YOU PULLED'

I really felt like ignoring them at this moment they had made me suffer all these years and I wouldn't put up with it anymore I mumbled quietly to them

'no'

my dad stared furiously into my eyes before yelling

'WHAT DID YOU SAY BRAT'

I repeated

'no I don't care he deserved to get fired from his job I know it's important but he went after a innocent hero who was just saving the city from venom and I have been up all night working with him and my friends to plan and get rid of him so give me some fucking sympathy around here and appreciate what we've done'

marinettes/pov

I was still at the shop browsing outside it looked all miserable and grey I was hoping ash was ok I knew her parents would kill her knowing that peter was spiderman and especially what happened with her father finally I had the last of the things I needed I hurried over to the small checkout before placing my items the person behind the counter asked politely

'what's with the long face are you alright'

I explained sadly

'I don't know I just feel lost if you've heard recently venom was defeated and well please don't tell anyone about this but me and my friends we all helped out spiderman'

his jaw dropped no one would know who we were until now we were the main ones who won the battle the man exclaimed

'oh wow I'd like to thank all of you you and your friends were a great help to the city I saw on the news early this morning that you were doing something with spiderman but I didn't know well done'

I smiled at him before saying

'thank you I'll make sure to tell the others I hope to see you again soon'

the man simply said to me before I left

'no problem have a good day'

a few minutes later I got home with the shopping once I was at the front door I started to hear loads of shouting and screaming something was definitely wrong with ash her parents had taken it too far now it was time to take action so I quickly got out my phone and dial 911 the person said seriously

'911 what's your emergency'

I explained calmly

'hey I've just got home and I hear loads of screaming and shouting coming from my cousin and my aunt and uncle and I think my cousin is getting abused'

the operator responded

'ok the cops are on their way do you know how long you're aunt and uncle have been abusive to your cousin for'

I replied with

'yeah for many years now and it hasn't stopped'

everything was kicking right off I had locked myself in the downstairs bathroom as I was shivering I could still hear my parents bashing loudly on the door I was praying marinette would be back soon she could sort it out all of a sudden I got a text from her

marinette: hey ash are you ok in there I can hear loads of screaming and shouting

ash: no I've locked myself in downstairs bathroom and my parents are bashing on the door trying to get in

marinette: I've called the police on them they'll be here any minute now to take them and your siblings away

ash: OMG THANK YOU YOU'RE A LIFESAVER DO YOU KNOW THAT ❤️

marinettes/pov

I put my phone away before I could see the cops racing towards the front door this was it ash would finally be safe I opened the door slowly as we rushed in one of the cops immediately shouted

'PUT YOUR HANDS UP WE'VE GOT YOU BOTH SURROUNDED'

ashes mom grumbled as she put her hands up

'what the fuck is going on here we did nothing wrong I swear'

I glanced round to see more cops have ran into the house to grab ashes siblings I looked back round seeing ashes parents staring into my eyes ashes mom then yelled

'WAIT MARINETTE YOU WERE IN ON THIS WE HAVE FUCKING TRUSTED YOU FOR SO LONG AND THEN YOU GO BEHIND OUR BACKS AND DO THIS'

I explained

'yes what you have done to ash over the past few years is absolutely disgraceful you are horrible fucking people I hope I'll be able to see that sorry look on your faces behind bars for a good long time'

One of the cops then said seriously

'sir and ma'am you're under arrest for abuse your children are waiting in the car for you'

her mom screamed

'THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING WE'VE DONE NOTHING WRONG WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE BRAT'

ash opened the door I could see the shocked look on her face as her parents were in handcuffs I then responded

'oh I'll be looking after her'

I smiled brightly at marinette as my parents were being led to the police car waiting patiently outside my mom was still screaming violently as we followed them until we were at the front door my parents were both placed into the police car I could also see my siblings in one of the other police cars and then I could hear the tires screech as the cops drove off into the distance and that was it they were gone there'd be no more abuse no more pushing me around every 24/7 no more anything I was free from the horrible curse they had placed on me I smiled again at marinette before hugging her tightly I whispered

'thank you so much'

marinette replied with quietly

'no problem I hope you appreciate that'
