They strolled through the familiar streets of Inazuma, both doing their best to experience the scenery and not remember the events that had transpired here. Venra sighed, sticking close to Childe. He could feel a tenseness as she stayed close to him. It wasn't something he felt before. It felt different because before all of this happened, he only thought of her as a mere friend, but now things have changed, and it's awfully weird still. Nonetheless, he wanted to make sure she had a good time out today. Venra strayed away from him for a second to admire some jewelry. It was a silver necklace with a small charm on the end of it of the Thunder Sakura. When Venra asked about the price, the person said that it was a commission for another person. When she heard the news, Venra pouted a bit but thanked the shopkeeper anyway. Once Venra moved on to another thing. Childe had walked up to the shopkeeper.
"Hello! I saw that my friend was looking at that necklace of yours. Is it for sale?" He asked.
"No, unfortunately, it's a commission for one of the Shrine Maidens." The shopkeeper said.
"Do you mind if I commission you to make one that looks like it?" Childe asked.
"I can make a bracelet instead. I'm low on silver chains, and only have enough for a bracelet."
"That will work." Childe smiled and handed over a pouch of Mora, even though the shopkeeper didn't even give a price. "No need to say a price, just take it." He waved and walked off towards Venra again. That left the shopkeeper stunned. The price for the bracelet was around 1000 Mora. Inside, there was 3500 Mora. They moved out of Inazuma city and wandered the dirt path to a nearby town. It was a little town, with only about 4 or 5 houses. It looked rather peaceful, though.
"It would be nice to live in a place like this." Venra said, smiling.
"That it would. It's small and peaceful." Childe grinned. Venra looked up at him and gave him a warm grin. "It looks like you have something to tell me, is something the matter?" She asked, still grinning at him.
"Oh? Was it that obvious?" He looked down at her.
"You're just sounding really dry. Not really invested into the conversation." She got a worried look on her face. Childe sighed.
"Let's...go somewhere more private." He grabbed her hand and walked her away from the town. They made it to the outskirts of Konda Village, where nobody resided. He reached for something in his pocket and took out a neatly written letter. Venra read the letter, and covered her mouth in shock.
"I know you don't like her, and I was planning to tell you later today, but it seems you found out early." Childe said.
"That's...that's horrible. Sure, I may not like her a lot, but I can still grieve for a Harbinger. We all work together, and even though we were not on the best of terms, I can still feel bad. May she rest in peace..." Venra sighed, handing the letter back to Childe. He put it back in his pocket, and the two shared awkward silence. Venra took the initiative and held his hand, squeezing it tightly. It stunned him having his hand held so tightly. Then he had a thought. I can't imagine how angry she is at the world. At the Harbingers. At the Fatui. She just doesn't know any other way to express it except just holding my hand in silence. She stared off into space with a serious look on her face. Her hand rested on the hilt of her sword, contemplating drawing her sword. Childe noticed, and grabbed her hand away from her sword. He drew her sword and held it above him so she couldn't get it. Venra tried grabbing at it, and when she was unsuccessful, she growled.
"You aren't going to avenge her death, Venra. She's gone, and there is nothing either of us can do to change that." Childe spoke, looking into her eyes.
"I need to do something, Childe! I can't just sit and stand around while my comrades are being killed!" Venra barked, baring her teeth.
"No, we're supposed to be calming down and taking care of ourselves! Venra, I won't allow you to do that. It's not our job right now to avenge someone. We just went through a calamity ourselves. What makes you think it's okay to get killed?!" Childe said, still keeping the sword away from her until he knew she could be trusted with it again. Then, Venra started crying.
