Chapter 12 - The Power Of Love

- {Sonic pov} -

Nervous, I made my way to Shadow's room. I wanted to know the truth... But at the same time I was scared...

What if Amy was telling the truth??

No, enough Sonic!

Just go and see Shadow...

I limped my way to Shads's room, but stopped when I heard things smashing and being thrown from inside.

He was really mad...

I heard one last smash and then silence.

I decided to put my head to the door, to see if could hear anything.

"Why would she do that... I loved him so much... I want him back..." I heard Shads's voice from inside, he sounded sad, yet angry.

"Why...?" He quietly said.

It sounded like he was crying...

Making up my mind, I took a deep breath, and knocked on the door.

"Shads? Can I... Talk to you?"

I heard rustles and footsteps heading to the door. I took a step back, nervous.

"Are you here to break up with me?" He asked, from behind the door.

"No... Can I just come in and talk to you? Please?"

Slowly, the door opened. Shads stood before me, tears streaming down his face.

"Shads..." I gasped, feeling my heart strings pull.

Was Amy actually lying?

"Shads... I- ah!" I stepped forward, my ankle giving up on me. I fell, but Shads caught me.

I looked up, and we met eyes. He looked so upset... I had never seen him like this before.

He helped me over to the bed, and I sat down, noticing stuff all over the place. Broken, smashed etc.

Shads sat away from me, looking down at the floor.

"Shads..." I looked over to him.

He didn't reply.

"Could you tell me your side of the story...?" I asked, already kinda making up my mind about Amy lying.

"You won't believe me..." Shads spoke, wiping his tears away.

"I'll tell you what I think" I began, looking down to my lap.

I didn't want to accuse Amy of anything, but still, Shadow had been anything but mean to me since I arrived here. He hadn't done anything to upset me and yeah he may have said some hurtful things but he didnt say them to hurt their feelings... And besides, he never said any of them to me...

I took a deep breath and prepared to talk.

"I think that... because Amy was upset and wasn't thinking straight, she thought that blaming you for something you didn't do would cause me to get mad at you and then it would cause me to break up with you..."

It hurt to doubt Amy... But I needed to say it. Until I knew the full story, I couldn't side with anyone yet.

Shadow glanced at me, before looking back at his lap.

"After waking up, I went to the kitchen to grab something to eat... I left you on the couch, because you were sleeping. When I got my toast and sat down, Amy came up to me and started going on about how she wanted me to stay away from you. She then proceeded to get her hammer and try to hit me with it. I tried to stop her from hitting me so I ducked down and it went flying into the wall, causing it to break in two..."
